using dpi more than 72
I am new to these lists, and it is interesting to see how much energy is wasted on something totally irrelevant to the subject i.e. get terrence of the list ;-) My question is, if I ask a question, will it receive the same amount of attention? Or should I ask; will it receive the same amount of devotion? If it does, then surely I must get an answer to my question. So what is my question? How do I create an graphic with a higher dpi than the default 72 (or more accurate ppi?), and save it as an tiff file, not a postscript file? The Gimp manual suggest saving the file as a ps, but I would prefer using tiff format at this stage (still learning so one step at a time) Then also, if I want to do a poster (with a higher dpi than 72), following the suggestion in the Gimp manual, Gimp creates a huge file, and doing anything useful with Gimp becomes impossible. Thanks a lot (I am sending this to both the user and developer list, as I am not sure where the terrence thing originated from :-))
Re: using dpi more than 72
Thanks I got Gimp 1.1.11 compiled it, had to get a few extra packages (i.e. PDL and so on) compiled it again, still got a few errors, but it installed any way (I don't know a thing about compiling and such stuff - will leave it to the guys that do - I just followed the instructions). now my "script-fu" is not working (most of them), will have to go and figure what is needed to get it to work again. but my impression so far; I am very impressed Thanks again Olof S Kylander wrote: > Hello > > You can't do it with Gimp 1.0 but you can do it with the developers > version of Gimp i.e Gimp 1.1.x . > > A work around is to calculate it your self (described in the PrePress > Chapter). Re: Complex riddle...
For what it's worth, I will also appreciate a tutorial on this as I am new to using Gimp and need all the help I can get :-) Thanks Ben Crowder wrote: > On Tue, 23 Nov 1999, Steve Rogers wrote: > > > Is this typical of the way you people behave here? or is this individual an > > exception? script-fu
Hi everyone I installed Gimp 1.1.11 to use more than 72 dpi, with my first installation I could not use the script-fu options; Gimp would just close. I have now re-compiled it and installed it again, now I can use the script-fu options, but only once, then I get a Segmentation fault caught? If I want to use it again, I must save what I have got open and restart Gimp (the positive side is that it does not close gimp any more, I can go on working, I just cant use the script-fu options) Now when running the config command I get a Parse::RecDescent 1.6 for scm2perl error, On examining the Perl Error/Warning log (after installing Gimp) I also noted the following error: gimpmagick Image:: Magick version 1.45 and it is fatal now my question will be, where do I find the packages, so that I can install them and not get the first error. and then where do i get Magick version 1.45? Thanks for the help
RGB to CMYK
Hi everyone I need to work with CMYK colors, the Gimp Manual does not go into to much detail on how to convert an RGB created image into an CMYK. I need to convert the image to CMYK for the "printers" to print it out for me (they did show me how to do it with Corel Draw, but I am sticking with Gimp :-)) All suggestions and pointers will be appreciated. Thanks

GIMP 1.1.19
I downloaded GIMP 1.1.19 I then run the ./configure script, no problems there. But when I run the make script, all went smooth until it got to an error saying: /bin/sh msgmerge: command not found I did upgrade my RedHat 6.1 to RedHat 6.2, could that be it? What do I need to do to correct the problem? GIMP 1.1.15 compiles without a problem. All help and pointers will be appreciated Thank you -- DGIT Solutions Cell: +27 (0)82 464 2595 Tell: +27 (0)12 332 1223
