[Gimp-user] How can I Autumnize this image of leaf that still has some green color to it?

2012-08-31 Thread thegimpestgimp . 9a
Hello,
We'd like to Autumnize the picture of a leaf that still has some
green/life to it. Leaf is located http://i.imgur.com/X9po8.jpg

We want to make the leaf take on the color of a bit more autumn: the green
parts turning red. How can we do this without making the picture seem to
photoshopped or too reddish?

I've tried playing with the various options in the Color dropdown (Colour
Balance, Hue Saturation, Colourize, Brightness-Contrast, Threshold, Levels,
Curves), but I can't seem to do it.

Thank you.

I've just upgraded my Gimp to 2.8.2. I read that 2.8.x has a new feature
called layer groups. Will see if that (or anything else) will help.

In Inkscape, you can select multiple objects by simply using the Select tool

Gimp. I chose the Select tool (R) and selected several images in one column.
I thought, that I would see all the boxed-in layers selected for easy
 duplication, but nope.

This is because GIMP deals with bitmap images. The selection tools
select parts of bitmaps on just one layer.

There is no multiple selection of layers yet. Athough for aligning and
distributing them you can use the Align tool with Shift pressed.

Alexande, thanks for your response.

I put all the images I want into 1 group, and I've duplicated it. But now,
how do I move a group of layers around my canvas?

Ahh, I figured it out.

In my Move dialog, what was selected was Pick a layer or guide. I
changed it to Move the active layer and moving the layer group worked
without any problem.

Well, it's like this. You tell us what version of GIMP you are running
on what system and where you got the installer, then we try to figure
things out :) So far there is simply not enough information.

[Gimp-user] GIMP 2.8 per Windows, problem with the color picker

2012-08-31 Thread Camo
Apart from checking, whether 2.8.2 still has it, and then telling us?
Well, praying on knees seems to be popular :)

I downlod newest Gimp today. And I used to change the fg color in color dialog.
Today I foud out that color picker tool exist. So it works(hope). But it is the
right that eyedropper doesn´t work. Like in color to alpha dialog in 2.6
version.

So execuse me my histerical reaction

PS: I think that the resize tool is much slower as in 2.6 version.

[Gimp-user] matting-global

2012-08-31 Thread luis_s_s
Hello,
On the examples of GEGL (tests-compositions) there is a file to test
matting-global, called matting-global.xml, here the test is carried out with
two files, one is the input and the other is a scribble, for example input.png
and input-scribble.png.
In Gimp 2.8.2 in Windows 7 in Tools' menu, there is and option called GEGL
Operations and the operation Matting-Global is listed but nothing is said about
how to use this operation.
I was expecting some edit box to enter the names of the input and scribble
files.

Does anyone know how to enter the two files for this operation to work?, Does
anyone has information about how to create the scribble file?.

I have compiled GEGL with cygwin and tested matting-global and this operation
works using matting-global.xml. There is also an operation called matting-levin
but its compilation is somehow disabled, does anyone know why?.

thank you for your help.

Re: [Gimp-user] GIMP 2.8 per Windows, problem with the color picker

2012-08-31 Thread Nik Omul
Select Color picker tool and in Tool Options dockable dialogue toggle
Set_foreground_color instead of Pick_only. Now when you use eyedropper from
Change_Foreground_Color dialog window it will change foreground color to the
one you picked. This will help you restore your workflow til the bug is
fixed.
Francois wrote

I suspect that Francesco had the same problem I did. In the color picker
dialog box, there is an icon, about 2/3 of the way from the top, which
when one hovers the mouse cursor over the icon, reveals the context help
that one can select a color from anywhere in the screen. When one's
cursor is located over a GIMP window, this is true, one can select a
color; when the cursor is over a part of the screen that is not part of
a GIMP window, the cursor reverts from the eyedropper shape to the
normal cursor shape, and in my experience, one was not able to select a
color from any part of the screen that was not a GIMP related window.

Yes, this is the problem I'm having as well. It's definitely a bug.

[Gimp-user] Problem with TIFF images in GIMP 2.8

2012-08-31 Thread mauriciorubik
Hi folks, I'm trying to work with TIFF images got from Image Pro Plus but
GIMP 2.8 doesn't open them, I found that's a problem related to Image Pro
Plus because misses some tags. Also, I tried with ImageMagick using:

convert prueba 1.tif prueba 1.png

convert prueba 1.tif prueba 2.tif

The first works fine, just with some warnings, PNG image was created
succesfully.
The second doesn't work and in any case if I do:

convert prueba 1.tif -identify

got:

convert: incorrect count for field DateTime (27, expecting 20); tag
trimmed. `prueba 1.tif'.
convert: prueba 1.tif: unknown field with tag 40001 (0x9c41) encountered.
`TIFFReadDirectory'.
convert: prueba 1.tif: unknown field with tag 50288 (0xc470) encountered.
`TIFFReadDirectory'.
convert: prueba 1.tif: unknown field with tag 50291 (0xc473) encountered.
`TIFFReadDirectory'.

Original image got from Image Pro Plus:

Maybe you can add some support for that :)

Sorry if my english isn't good, I'm improving it.

I'm seeing what sounds like the same problem. I don't know why it's happening,

In addition to the ... because of a problem message, I get

Check with the developer to make sure file-pdf-load works with this version of

I'm running OS X 10.8.1.

I have a crash dump if that's of use to anyone.

That file isn't anywhere on my disk.
