[Gimp-user] [Mac] 2.8.2
2 - How do you change the language? The release notes say: A question that often arises is how to change the UI language in GIMP, which has traditionally been a bit cumbersome. Not any longer, it is now possible to change the language in Preferences. But, I don't find that option anywhere in the Preferences of 2.8.2. I experience this same, nowhere a possiblity to change language. So used to working with english apps that finnish counterparts donĀ“t serve well. -- Fpacius (via gimpusers.com) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list gimp-user-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list

Not any longer, it is now possible to change the language in Preferences. But, I don't find that option anywhere in the Preferences of 2.8.2. That's because the language selector has a compile-time dependency on iso-codes (see https://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-isocodes/ for a short description), and this was absent from the current OSX builds. IIRC it is supposed to become available in future packages. HTH, Michael ___ gimp-user-list mailing list gimp-user-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list

Export to jpg made png. Same for psd. Shouldn't name track chosen format, so no manual override needed? Maybe you had set the file-type chooser to this format? The default By extension should do what you want, any other value is for special cases like you've discovered, like ambiguous file name extensions. Regards, Michael ___ gimp-user-list mailing list gimp-user-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list GIMP should also warn you if the filename you typed in the Export dialog box has a different extension than the selected file format. Also, if you select a specific file format the dialog will automatically update the filename box to reflect the new extension, so you would only encounter this warning if you changed the extension after selecting the output filetype. -- Stratadrake strata_ran...@hotmail.com Numbers may not lie, but neither do they tell the whole truth. ___ gimp-user-list mailing list gimp-user-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list
[Gimp-user] edit text content and properties
Hello Gimp-user-list One thing Photoshop now does well is to modify text: Select Layer, click, edit... including content, font, and size units. On GIMP2, I can select similarly, but edit options seem not to allow easy change of text or properties. Attempting to highlight or select from text box seems to only let me move box, copy all, paste replace. Without good help, I will need to rebuild pages from scratch. This is because you are trying to to enter text editing mode with the Move tool. Try the Text tool instead. Actually, it's a good point. Automatically entering the text mode from the Move tool after a double click would make sense. Re: [Gimp-user] edit text content and properties
Hello Alexandre Thanks for fast response. Sounds logical. Highlighting in place seemed not to work, so I use editor, changed px to pt, found NO CHANGE. Also tried editor with use selected font, no change. Have previously found GIMP to reject my mods, including size/ppi. Is something protected? Also, can one make Use editor the default? [Gimp-user] re Online Manual
Hello Gimp-user-list Perhaps manual would anticipate more questions to user-list if there were a draft/w.i.p. version to insert notes. For example: 5.20, You can set the default for the rulers in the Image Window Appearance dialog. images differ from latest release. Ex2: Text editing could show link to Rich's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChcTE9KROmcfeature=youtu.be. Right now I'm trying to learn what units are in rulers (px?) and how to change (e.g., inches). Re: [Gimp-user] re Online Manual
Thanks Alexandre So someone could make a DIV with colored border and percentage width, to insert note boxes, much like WORD accepts multi-author notes, comments. I've not used DocBook, but was active in HTML-4. Re: [Gimp-user] edit text content and properties
Hello Rich group Ok, I've chosen Text-tool, clicked string and highlighted, reset px to pt and large size, and nothing changes. If I press enter or select move tool, string can be erased from box. Ctrl-z brings back string. (1) how can one safely exit the text box? (2) why don't my changes stick? Use editor seemed not to help. On other text boxes, I HAVE succeeded, but don't know what was different. Regards, Don Miller damill...@gmail.com == Monday, October 29, 2012, 12:32:29 PM, you wrote: Hello Rich Good vid, thanks.
