[Gimp-user] Gimp 3 release date
Hi. I have a question. When Gimp 3 will be released ? Why the Gimp development speed is slow? ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
Re: [Gimp-user] Gimp 3 release date
Hello, Gimp 3.0 will release after Gimp 2.10. there is no fix timeline. Gimp 3.10 will be released as soon as Gimp is completely ported to GEGL (16 bit support and more). Gimp 3.0 will be released after Gimp is then ported from gtk 2 to gtk 3. The Gimp development is so slow, because there are not enough developer working on it. It could be speed up with more developers. Regards Tobias 2014-04-17 8:49 GMT+02:00 Crs Mrn mahri...@gmail.com: Hi. I have a question. When Gimp 3 will be released ? josephbupe (for...@gimpusers.com) wrote: Kindly educate me on the difference it will make migrating from gtk 2 to gtk 3. GTK+ 3 has several new features that makes the life of us developers easier. Also tablet support on windows will be improved. Are there usability/performance issues to be directly perceived by the user? Not unless we use the new features. There is a major impact though: 3rd party plugins might break, especially if they use widgets from libgimpwidgets. Hence we cannot do the switch to gtk3 within the gimp 2.x series since we promise a certain level of api stability within this series. If that weren't the case we'd have switched to gtk+-3 long ago.
It's not able to allocated enough memory to run Gimp ok so how do i fix this. im running 2gbs of ram. If virtual memory is enabled (and it should be, by default) you don't get this because you are short of RAM (especially on startup, my Gimp 32bit Windows is around 48MB when started, and my 64-bit Linux is ar 68MB). This could be a different problem (address space exhaustion?). To MrsWilson; are there other programs running when you run Gimp (Internet navigator, word processing, etc...)? With all due respect to Partha's builds, maybe the standard builds should be tried here? ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list

[Gimp-user] Blender Foundation style 'open graphics project' with GIMP?
Greetings I'd just like to suggest that GIMP develop a program of engagement with artists along the lines of what the Blender Foundation are doing with their open movie projects: http://www.blender.org/features/projects/ The open movie's are both a chance to showcase the beautiful work that can be done with Blender, and a way to focus development on new features, and harvest feedback from users about ways the UX can be improved. From reading the summaries at the link above, it seems that each project involved setting some ambitious goals for what the software needed to be able to do, and working with an arts organisation to set an artistic challenge. The resulting artwork is then heavily promoted, as a way of bringing attention to the software and its capabilities, and copies can be sold or used as rewards in crowdfunding campaigns. Just a thought. -- Danyl Strype Community Developer Disintermedia.net.nz/strype Geeks are those who partake in our culture. - .ISOcrates Voting... is the next to last refuge of the politically impotent. The last refuge is, of course, giving your opinion to a pollster, who will get a version of it through a dessicated question, and then will submerge it in a Niagra of similar opinions, and convert them into - what else? - another piece of news. Thus, we have here a great loop of impotence: The news elicits from you a variety of opinions about which you can do nothing except to offer them as more news, about which you can do nothing. - Neil Postman, 'Amusing Ourselves To Death' ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
Re: [Gimp-user] Blender Foundation style 'open graphics project' with GIMP?
Yes...I think that, if the Gimp community would collaborate with Blender community...it would be benefic for everyone. I am myself a Blender user, and I use Gimp for texturing. If Gimp could help Blender users, then, there would be automaticly a raise in Gimp development speed, because more and more devs will get interested. Gimp should support some special tools for texturing UV maps, as well as a Blender-Gimp dual plugin that makes the workflow between these softwares easier. I think Gimp community should support Blender community, and find a way to get more known in there. Blender community would also support Gimp... and, with a great development flow comes evolution. [Gimp-user] Change Left/Right Panel Color
Hello All: I'm new to GIMP and trying to setup the interface the way I'd prefer; don't like the rather bright white color of the image window, toolbox and dialog panels when the program first opens up. I tried searching the archives to find an answer to my question without any success. Therefore... After looking through various preference options, I finally found how to change the padding color for the image window, however, I cannot see if it's possible to change the toolbox panel (left side) and dialog panels (right side) to something other than white. Since my image window (padding) is now set to a very dark gray, I'd like to set the toolbox/dialog panels to something like a medium gray. Is this possible? How? Thank you for any help provided.
