Hi,

I'd like to add that this issue also occured similarly for me today
on the [GIMP nightly builds site]. At least there were ads for a
Windows installer and training. This particular ad might being
harmless as long as one knows the backgrounds, but other users could
easily be led astray.
Using an adblocker filtered the ad properly out.

It sounds like you are participating in the Apple Developer program. Do you?

 I don't think the gtk-mac-integration project is involved any more for 
 developing gtk-osx apps. At least, I don't use it. 

We use it in GIMP 2.8 (see the osx-build branch and the integrated patches 
from Simone). Simone also forked and updated gtk-mac-integration.
It *might* become obsolete with the switch to GTK+ 3, but that's future and
much can happen until then.

which operating system do you use - Windows, OS X, Linux
or something else?
If you want to work with video data and bulk edit many
frames, then GIMP seems to be the wrong choice.
Other suitable choices for your needs might be Cinepaint
or an video editor.

I could reproduce and fix it by opening a Terminal session (see 
ApplicationsUtilities), then executing

sudo chmod 755 /Applications/GIMP.app/Contents/MacOS/*
This will set execution permissions for all users on this Mac.
A quick function test passed here.

The system setting Security & Privacy has no effect on this.
For security reasons I recommend to reset it to the default value
('Install from Mac App Store and verified developers').

I don't know how other companies do this job, but I'm sure there are
many ways to do it.
The GIMP way is to use Image -> Scale Image ..., the Scale Tool or
Layer -> Scale Layer AND use a suitable interpolation.
Interpolation=None gives the worst results. I would recommend Sinc 
(Lanczos3) or Cubic. If none of the interpolation methods returns

acceptable results, you could try the following plug-ins:

Scale in steps: http://registry.gimp.org/node/9676

GIMP 2.9 has dropped the 'Sinc (Lanczos3)' method (why?), but has 
'NoHalo' and 'LoHalo' now.

Your preferred Raw converter or ImageMagick could also be a choice.

BTW I could not find any Downscale method in the G'Mic plug-in,
which usually adds some more interesting filters. Have I missed something?

I would try the Clone brush first, then the Healing brush.
Another option is
1. select the writing, feather the selection's edges,
2. desaturate with the Hue-Saturation-Tool or the Colorize-Tool,
3. brighten/darken (or dodge/burn) to match the surrounding areas.
Also the Resynthesizer plug-in is a choice, tho I think as the
background is homogeneous, the former tools with some practice are
sufficient.

I considered putting this into an app to allow me to turn a tablet into a
custom keyboard that sends the shortcut keys, but there is no substitute
for separate, hard, plastic keys.


You could also consider using a DAW tablet app, which is basically a
MIDI controller with a (customizable) GUI. The MIDI output controls
GIMP via its MIDI input device. I haven't tried that yet, but perhaps
it's a source of inspiration for you. You'll find some posts to this
topic in the GIMP developer mailing list archives.

We discussed this a few times before at the GIMP developer mailing list,
even with the VIPS maintainer himself. The point is that VIPS is not

GIMP doesn't have such a setting for this detail.
As Ofnuts wrote it's in the interface theme.
Try selecting another theme in GIMP's preferences. If you're
using the Default theme check the preferences of your desktop
environment (on Linux or BSD) or your system's preferences (on Windows
or OS X).


There is precious little to complain about. I've been using gimp for many years,
on and off.

Hi,

to me it sounds like you installed GIMP from another user account than
the one you're working with. The user account you are working with
doesn't seem to have execution privileges for GIMP's plug-ins.
Try to install GIMP as administrator or the user account you use for
your GIMP work.
Of course, use your administrator account only for installing and 
uninstalling GIMP,

not for your daily work and even not to browse the internet.
It might not be related to your current problem, but as a general
security advice make sure to scan your downloaded software for viruses.
