That sounds very useful. If ever it would be possible I would like completed selections in the Description column to be a drop-down list as well. It seems I'm running out of simple descriptions and have to type more. The fact that Tab will complete the account, splits, and amount is very useful

David -- this is a common false positive being thrown from the Windows 10 "Smart Sense" Defender anti-malware program. There should be an option to click through the error and "install anyway?" (May be harmful - but do you want to install anyway). Just say yes and click through the errors and it

Hi John, So you said you're on an iMac previously so you presumably hopefully downloaded Gnucash-Intel-4.1-1.dmg. Double clicking on that shows the contents of the dmg. What I typically do is select all the files, 6 in this case, and simply drag and drop them into my Applications/GnuCash folder

[GNC] help to set up equity sub-accounts opening balances

I have used double-entry bookkeeping although I am not trained. In the past I have used what I called 'fund' accounts as sub-accounts for my equity account: home maintenance, tithe, and emergency savings, for example. I divide my 'profits' each month and accrue them through an expense account

I'm still on 2.6.21 I had trouble updating to 3.x, so I gave up. I think the big reasons users should keep updated is to clear up a bug they're facing, or if they have a question about how to do something, it's handy to be asking for help with a recent version. So far, I've been pretty lucky
