I should have elaborated. He is hard-core, and I want to get this right.
Is the Past Patterns version accurate? I am out of my specialty and most of
the art of the period shows a hood or mantle over the neckline. G!

Hi, my partner wants something like a knee-length cotehardie with a standing
band collar. Does this actually exist? Is it called something specific?
Thanks,

I've been staring at the few pictures that exist for 25 years, and have
discussed it with several people who have seen it in person. (I,
unfortunately, am probably the person who knows the most about 16th C. Irish
clothes who hasn't actually been TO Ireland. Just imagine what I will know

Will we all be there Friday night? I have to attend the Welcome Ceremonies,

I'm thinking, the balcony at the bar? Should be enough room. We can be
seen to be conspicuously having fun. What more can we ask?

I would be happy to host a meet-up for H-Cos folks. I do need to know how
much space we will need, so I would like to get an idea how many people
might be joining us at CoCo.
Who will be attending Costume College and would be interested in meeting
up? Please email me with a subject line of CoCo
I'll be there. With Maggie. I was thinking of setting up a meet. Anyone
interested?
The Red Carpet is open to anyone who wants their photo taken, bearing in

Hi, CGW Director-at-Large, here. I can't actually guarantee a ticket to the

I did one with the skirt on a separate waist band and sewn to the bodice
from side seam to side seam, around the back. The plackard was entirely
separate, boned and decorated to simulate the front of the chemise showing
through the open front of the gown. It worked, with the strategic addition

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be snarky. I hit send before I realized I
didn't finish the thought. The combo of garments suggests a generic
medieval feel.
There is a great resource of extant garments at http://www.kostym.cz/.
I have to work up a outfit for my guy soon, and I will be using this
I ordered two more copies on 10/31, and got an email that they were

My couch has parts of a linen kirtle for my 16th c. Irish stuff.
My new bodice is languishing in a canvas tote bags (I use them instead of

(Hi, Kass!)
I don't know, lots of the REST of the Irish garments we see in period art
are a lot old. I think the wimple is just a wimple, though maybe you would
be more likely to see an old widow-lady wearing one. The Chief's wife in
Derrick's Banquet is wearing a wimple. They are still
