I suspect the WiFi of being a considerable drain as the access point is
old and the walls quite solid.

Adding a DVD player to a netbook kinda defeats the concept of a netbook to
my mind. You might want to copy selected DVDs to Flash but that's gonna eat
storage fast. Better I'd think to go for a cheap laptop instead.

New workstation builds we've gone back to using RAID1 simply because
disk capacity has got so stupidly high a pair of disks is all you need.

Strings is a filter specifically designed to find printable strings in a file

set. You were better off using competitors equipment like the Qume QVT102.
They had to get it right, unlike DEC who just assumed they were correct.

is always a good idea. Go to meets and clubs, they are not for gurus only,
talk on mailing lists etc. My last three jobs have been from conversations
at meeting or triggered by remarks on LUG mail lists.

Also worth running size command as I've seen Fortan programs with huge
static memory allocations, add up the bss and data values.

nvi is basically the same program I've been using fpr 30+ years.
Why have to learn new tricks with every upgrade.
