The issue is not security, it's airline policy and policy interpretation. TSA has *authorized* US airlines to allow musical instruments on board (with restrictions), but they do not *require* airlines to allow them. The restrictions can include size and shape in addition to available space.

Ken, What I've done for a couple of my larger harps is get a soft carrying case and build a wooden shipping case with plenty of padding and insulation, into which the soft-cased harp fits. So far, so good. Do you think your hg and its soft case might fit under a seat or even overhead? On
