Huh? No, they are not the perfect school instrument, and they are not easier to 
play or simpler than the recorder. The fingering may or may not involve a 
forked F, but for a school instrument, they would be much harder.  And much, 
much more expensive.  Whoever recommended krumhorns for children must have had 
an evil sense of humor.
