Perhaps the servers crash because they get some data off from
master/item/vac whatever server and they have no idea what to do with
it. Obviously this is global issue and thus Valve should look into it
and affects only if there are players on the server.
However, i think they already know

We had a second crash about 30 minutes after the first on all Linux servers,
it does however reference sourcemod as one of the culprits of the crash,
running a 1 week old dev snap of 1.4 SM which i was hoping would solve the
problem. I also like others don't believe SM is the problem here but
it isn't sourcemod.. there are people here who don't run sourcemod or
metamod which the mass crash is still occuring for them.

To actually help valve, attach mdmp files. They went through the trouble of
building minidump functionality in for a reason.

Valve anticheat is not the problem. It is an independent system. All your
server needs to do is check if a connecting user is banned when you run
secure.
VAC is a clientaide anticheat. If my email did not make it to list,
attaching MDMP files is much more useful than troubleshooting in this

It can be a vac issue too but most likely this is related to trading for tf2 if
you have been following the game development and changes in steam(backend).
What i've read, steam lacked some things that were not there and they had to
implement them in order to get trading working for items.
I believe it has something to do with stats collection. Look at the past couple
updates. They all fix some mysterious stats collection process.
