I know this isn't the place for feature requests, but I have to ask a
question that seems obvious in the light of the recent beta map release:
Why isn't pl_swiftwater in the standard map distribution? It's been
thoroughly tested and another good PL map would be well received in the
community at
I agree with Lucas on bringing in Swiftwater; It's a map that's been tested
and approved and I'm sure the community at large would love to pub on it.
On another note, I can already envision the many changes coming to
CactusCanyon...It's surprisingly easy to hold either of the teams in spawn,

There's 2 reasons:
1. Valve has not tested it.
2. Valve has tested it and seen it unfit.

Which version of Swiftwater?
Part of Swiftwater's problem is that the author keeps changing it. Even
now, there are two major versions currently in circulation:
pl_swiftwater_final_rc (the public version) and pl_swiftwater_ugc (the comp

Also, keep in mind that there were
My response:
1. They should test it.
2. If they tested it and seen it unfit perhaps they should also retest
dustbowl.

Don't forget Ross that the map started as pl_swift before swiftwater and
there indeed has been numerous versions of it.
If and when they test a map, they will make a thorough test on it. I
asked once if they could test one of my maps - and they did. Took them
nearly 2 months to get to it due
Dear TF2 team,
Community servers were provably better than official ones. Before the
change, there wasn't a single official server in the gametracker top 200.
No one uses quickpick. As a fix for the nuclear option it has failed.
This move is something that would have been expected from EA. You
We've released an update for TF2 that is optional for dedicated servers. The
update is only for the new beta maps that were released yesterday. You do not
need to update your server unless you are running the beta maps. The notes for
the update are below.

I've been getting this on CSS as well. They download the map and then
they disconnect, after the download, with Map is missing.

Your player has a different version of the map than what you have on the
server. Have them delete or move their local copy and reconnect.

We're working on a mandatory update for TF2. We should have it ready very soon.

As far as I can remember, clients have had a tendency to leave unfinished
(.ztmp?) files in their downloads directory if their downloads don't
successfully complete. That'll leave the client unable to join any server
running that map.
Honestly the entire download process should be reworked now

The CS:GO map workshop system being tweaked and ported to other Source
engine games (Especially TF2) would be so very awesome and handles updates
much better than the old system we still have to work with. The main quirk

The Steam integration with CS:GO is by far one of the worst,
persistent, problem causing things I've seen to date. I'm not sure if
you're being sarcastic or not, but that would be absolutely awful in
it's present, or even a tweaked state. At the very least it needs to
be rewritten, if not entire
Welp, not sarcastic but I admit my experience from using it was basically
just one night when my gaming group wanted to try out a few custom maps for
CS:GO. So I admit I didn't experience it's problems firsthand (but I'm
curious what those would be).
