[hlds] Running a small TF2 server on an HP MicroServer

2011-09-05 Thread Brian
Hi all, I just bought an HP Proliant Microserver ( http://www.hpshop.ie/products.asp?partno=633724-421) to use as a home fileserver, shell server, HTPC whatever. I'm curious if it would be able to run a small (say 12 player) TF2 server reasonably well. The CPU is an AMD Athlon II Neo, model

1.3 GHz. Unlikely that it will run srcds at even 4 players at a reasonable performance level. You can try it, but do not expect good results on such a low-end machine. On Mon, Sep 5, 2011 at 11:24 AM, Brian br...@doublejump.eu wrote: Hi all, I just bought an HP Proliant Microserver (

I agree. Maybe it will work in an acceptable manner on simpler maps such as duel or bball. There's only one way to figure it out, and it's pretty quick too: download a server, add bots and look at net_graph 4. Keep in mind that bots are more cpu intensive than real players. On Mon, Sep 5, 2011

[hlds] RO2 Beta Server Update Released - Fix for servers not showing in the browser

2011-09-05 Thread John Gibson
We have just released an update for the RO2 Beta server files which fixes the problem with servers not appearing in the browser after the last update. It is not a required update (clients can still connect without it), but I highly recommend everyone update, as people won't join your server if

Hi John, Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, but do you/will you be releasing a php/python RCON script for end user server admins to use and automate some admin tasks? DICE released a very useful python RCON script for their products that we have used to automate several admin processes.

Chad, We don't currently have any plans for releasing a php/python RCON script. The game has a robust web based server administration tool that should do pretty much whatever an admin needs that we know of. Actually someone could theoretically extend that system using Unrealscript and the php web

Hi John, Yes, as Grant mentioned, we use the RCON script to handle a VIP/Reserve slot system for about 1200 users (somethingawful.com) via a custom steam chat bot (similar to an IRC bot) and coding wizardry. If RO2 supports unrealscript then that sounds like a good solution. It seems that there

Correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't replay NOT take a server slot? I finally got around to enabled it and my server dropped from 18/18 to 17/17 as soon as I map changed to bring replay online. Was this intended? I thought that it was fixed where replay wouldn't eat a player slot. -Steve

It does eat a player slot and probably always will - all they are doing (or trying to) is manipulating the player counts to hide this fact. On 2011/09/06 03:56, srcds admin wrote: Correct me if I am wrong but shouldn't replay NOT take a server slot? I finally got around to enabled it and my
