Ok, i'm a little out of practise with all this but a couple of things
you can try.
1. run the installer with -verify_all at the install directory.
2. iirc, doesn't centOS chroot the home directory to stop people running
apps from there? If so i would suggest creating a folder on the root of

Greetings,
I have been working on this for about a week without much joy, despite the
frantic googling and repeated re-installations I have done.
I have several problems, but am unable to determine if they are related. I
run the server directly on the command line, as user "hlds" with a ho
With all the problems with slow updates recently, if I threw up a
server with links to the updates on RS/MU/MF etc would you all use it?
I'm merely offering a service, not trying to start a debate. So please
don't try to shove your random opinion into the convo, thanks.

Still not budging on the SetParent function huh? This is what those of us
running a mod server have been most frustrated about :(.> Message: 2

Yes, use the numbers from the server name. I don't know how to select
non-Valve servers.

OK, are these numbers the numbers in the server name on the Content
Delivery Stats page?
http://store.steampowered.com/stats/content/
If so, how do you select a non-Valve mirror?

The code to read it is still there in the updater binary. Perhaps you have
to delete your clientregistry.blob after changing them.

Does the update tool even use that anymore? Did it ever?

minutes ago.

You can set them with a Steam.cfg file, but I think they're all pretty bad
right now because I still can't get the update. Place the Steam.cfg next to
the update tool.
Steam.cfg example contents:
PreferredContentServerIDs = "78 79 159"
Server IDs come from the content server stats page.

Is it possible to select a Steam mirror for the linux client? Whichever
one is the default is exceedingly slow.

Zoid,
Are you also investigating the problem with servers running the latest
version of GoldSrc not showing up in the master list?

But why does this CVar provides fixes for some problems we suffer from? It's
the SourceTV issue and the server plugin CVar issue.
I don't understand why the communication with the master server has some
impact on the server info.

We cannot guarantee master legacy mode will continue to work in the future as
we are moving forward with new master server features. We are looking into the

This bug exists as long as L4D2 does on our servers. It doesn't always appear
though.

There is no fix. The "godmode" happens sometimes in coop too. Somehow
some of the events are randomly triggered and infected are unable to spawn.
Finale gate might also blow up as soon as you activate the radio 2
times. Normally finale would start but the gate just blows up if 2 of

Hi,
I'm getting this bug almost all the time during the ferry event
(c3m1_plankcountry) in versus mode:
- Survivors get godmode
- SI can't spawn (displaying message "Survivors have escaped")
- Score Team = 500
till the ferry reach the other river bank.
Did anyone manage to find a fix or workaro
I'm not sure if it's possible, but this would be a great fix for the teley
issue.
if valve could fix it so admins could easly add 1 of two types of blocks on
the fly.
Would need a way to get the locations to add the blocks.
the blocks would be the trigger_hurt and func_nobuild (i think thats the
