There is no thing like 'DCB=8000' in JCL either.

Neal,
The reason that I would like to go for the 'MERGE' tool is that you can
provide a list of input tapes.
XCOPY requires, to my knowledge, a dataset list as input for the copy
process.
This means that I have to setup a process that collect the datasetnames
that are stacked with CA
Lieven,
When I converted the 3480s to 3490Es using the CA-DISK MERGE utility, I
would do 50 input tapes at a time. These tapes then went to one of five
output tapes. The output tapes were grouped by how long the backup dataset
was retained. Doing the conversion this way would took about 6-8 hours
Folks,
I need some help with an older version of CA-DISK 9.0.2.
The client needs to convert some old 3480 CA-DISK backups to some higher
capacity media.
They want to keep the CA-DISK environment.
For the moment I see 2 options.
1) use XCOPY to copy all backup tape volumes onto higher capacity
Lieven,
why don't you just use the Merge procedure? This will also consolidate the
data efficiently to fully utilize the new tapes.

Hey,
If you record the VOLSER of all those 3480 they can be put back into the
CA-DISK system after the conversion is done. There is a CA-DISK utility
available to perform that function. But it must be done after the conversion
is complete so you do not reprocess the 3480's again.
