I understand your delime, but just because they want something does not
mean it exists.

Solution for Tape. Both have the capabilities to use space efficient snapshots
and in each case these can be made immutable.
I have left out all the details and capabilities because I do not think
this is the place, and I am only answering the question asked.

r solution was to hand the tapes to
the person making that statement and saying they will not be scratched because
they are in your possession. I thought it was a great solution to the issue.
The likelihood of reading these tapes in my opinion is very low, they have
passed their shelf life.

Just a small point of clarification BUSTECH was purchased by EMC in the
2010 / 2011 time frame and from that come the DLm.

the daily or full scratch list to the DLm. It is that process that will
then mark the tape as a scratch tape in the DLm.

Another method would send a bill and maybe make a phone call. And to be totally
crazy maybe the salesperson could actually visit the customer.
Just saying electronic is not always the only method and may not be the best.

Using the TMC gives you the a calculated value as to the amount of
data stored. Since this does not take into account compression it does not
show the amount of physical tape cartridge consumed. Maybe this is in the
IBM tools, but I am not familiar with them

Maybe I am just o old, but I would have assisted the applications
programmer in this manner before setting a slip trap. Just maybe application
programmers do not debug there dumps any longer.
