to correct my answer to the second question: If, at 17:59:59 I had issued STIMER WAIT,BINTVL=[3 seconds] would the wait have expired at 18:00:01? It would expire at 18:00:01 if you are using leap seconds and at 18:00:02 if you are not. In both cases the wait will expire in 3 seconds time. George
