Bill,
If you are intending to get large candidates, it is quite simple to do it
in ISPF
in 3.4 bring up the dataset list with

If you need multiple HLQ's then you can get the information from DCOLLECT.
You run DCOLLECT and use an utility to strip the data you are interested
in.

Looks like you are using GMAIL , so try this
Click Gmail Settings (gear at the top right)
Under the General tab, check Conversation View settings.
You can turn them off or on by clicking the appropriate radio button, and

Hi Bill,
I'm assuming you're trying to figure out how big the migrated SMPPTS dataset is
for restoring it. Use an HSM HLIST command for that. Easiest is in ISPF 3.4,
just enter
hlist dsn(/)
on the line with the dataset name you want to see. You should get something
like this back.
Bill,
Do you mean "already ACCEPTED"? My simple answer could be yes in that case.
Regardless, I let SMP/E purge upon ACCEPT.
Don't you have a backup copy made prior to migration?

Or once you find out how much space the SMPPTS needs, you could potentially

Using ISMF to list the dataset, type HRECALL next to the dataset and on the

If you have FDREPORT from IDP/Compuware/BMC, that's a good tool.

Hi Bill,
What is the issue with trying to recall the migrated SMPPTS? Is it a case of
the dataset is gone, bad tape etc.? Or is it just space issues precluding

the maintenance is ACCEPTed, not just RECEIVEd. Do you

From the standpoint of just having a SMPPTS, you will be fine. I am hesitant to
state "logical" effects of any of the contents of the SMPTS.
e.g. installed, but not yet accepted maintenance.
If it were my dog, I would work on the recovery of t he original SMPPTS.

Yes, the fields are not "intuitive." It is hard to predict -- or at least it
was for me -- what fields would be populated under what circumstances.
I am going to venture a wild guess that the BMC report is correct. (I don't
work for BMC, and I am not familiar with the specific product.)

Look at the SMP/e CAUSER report and see what is/are the hold reasons. Then it
depends on what they are. Bypass or not. There's no need to exclude them. Just
expect an RC=8 on the apply.

If you disable some volumes, it won't use that volume for allocations,
but will if the data set won't fit on the remaining volumes. It would
take some time, but should get you a volume with enough space. Some
sites rotate this to 10% of the least used volumes on a daily basis.

Yeah, the layout is complex and hard to fathom, but once you get your code
right it is going to work every time. I am going to guess the BMC report
falls into that category.
I am going to struggle to say this well: not trying to be insulting, but I

I very clearly don't work for BMC, either. :-) And it's not just
professional courtesy that suggests they're almost certainly correct:
1) It's probably a more-or-less simple copy from the source to the
destination - and would've been reported as a bug long ago.
2) As I indicated, the data

It's always advisable to read the HOLDDATA, often these are advisory in
nature, could be "check region size is a minimum" or "these parameters are
now obsolete and will be ignored". If you are happy that you understand
the hold reasons, as previous posters said you can BYPASS.

1. No. I would expect any such incidences to be treated as a defect and

2. No
3. It was REFR and is still REFR. It was just a simple code bug,
