Sorry about the typo - meant to say, there ISN'T a 'CBP' product.

Fortunately online Help panels clearly describe the acronym meaning:
"CBPs - Displays the active/unassigned container based processors
installed on your system."
So, it is CONTAINER BASED PROCESSOR.
We know the name. Not the purpose of CBPs.

No, it was reponse to Mike's post. Mike provided link to Share presentation

More speculation...
Capacity Boost Processor(s)? (z15) Maybe something planned that was
eventually implemented with
the use of zIIP or making sub capacity engines full capacity for System
Recovery Boost?

No, this is different CBP. In this case it is sysplex link, obsoleted for
several CPC generations.
It is typical, an acronym can have multiple meanings.

At this point it is my understanding that there are no product
deliverables for which "CBP" is relevant.
Yes, you can see fields in control blocks with CBP in their name. And you
might see "CBP"
I suspect anyone who knows is under NDA and cannot post here :)
I have noticed that WLM has a CBP field in various places, documented as

HMC has added extensive support to configure CBP processors in lpars, with
much the same characteristics as CP.

The only zCX specialty engine eligibility is for zIIP.

Well, as I wrote, dockers (zCX) use zIIP. You are right the name is very
suggestive, but some presentations about docker on z/OS did not mention
CBP.
zCX requires:
- Z14 GA2
- Hardware Feature Code 0104

Yes, it is Container Based Processor, however I knew it and wrote here
explanation of the three letter acronym.
The problem is what is the purpose of CBP?
IMHO it's easy to explain what is zIIP, IFL, ICF or IFP, but I have no
explanation for CBP. That's why I'm asking. ;-)

We know the following types/flavours of mainframe processors: regular
CP, zIIP, IFL, SAP, ICF, older zAAP ...and CBP
This CBP is visible on Support Element panels. Help says it is "CBPs -
Displays the active/unassigned container based processors installed on

Container sounds like
