Does anybody recall whether that was also the case for later models?

The logmode I posted simultaneously creates both 68x80 and 68x142
geometries. Setting ISPF to 'Data' Screen Format rather than 'Max'
Screen Format, you get best-of-both-worlds behavior. ISPF will switch to
68x80 on ISPF Option 6 (using default, uncustomized panel) and to 68x142
for IPCS BROWSE and similar displays that require more width. IMHO much
better than having a typical 24x80 default size with 68x142 alternate.

Then logon on with the logmode (which must already be defined in ComServer). I

Personally, I like to use 68x80 default screen size paired with 68x142

would perish...

Ya know, I tried that when all the support came in (IBM and emulator) - and
thanks for your work BTW, but even though I don't like the white space
on ISPF option 6 (which I use rarely anyway), I found keeping a consistent
font size by always using 62 x 142 (what I use) was much easier on the eyes
instead of the font constantly changing. When I expand win-doze windows
(for most apps I work with on the desktop) the font size doesn't change.

The perception of many people I work with is still how can you read that
small font and then I put it side by side next to email, and they see it
is the same size or even a bit bigger.

On one of these lists lately someone kindly informed me that panel ISRTSOA
avoids the white space problem. At the limit of my skill, I copied ISRTSOA

This idea looked promising so I built a few logmode table entries on our

and secondary screen size definitions. I can confirm that Extra does not
behave well when it receives a bind that specifies a non-standard screen

Reflection can be configured for non-standard screen sizes (but it cannot

2014-04-11 Thread Farley, Peter x23353
From a VTAM logon screen, this works for any screen size you can implement in
your emulator, though I believe there is a limitation of maximum bytes per
screen = 8192 (60 x 132 = 8184 bytes):

logon applid=TSO,logmode=D4C32XX3

That logmode is supplied by IBM by default unless your VTAM network
administrator has deleted it.

If you have Netview Access or some other terminal distributor or interface this
logmode may or may not be available to you. I only know that it works from a
VTAM logon screen.

Can't help with your Attachmate issue though, sorry.

From a VTAM logon screen, this works for any screen size you can implement in
your emulator, though I believe there is a limitation of maximum bytes per
screen = 8192 (60 x 132 = 8184 bytes):

logon applid=TSO,logmode=D4C32XX3

That logmode is supplied by IBM by default unless your VTAM network
administrator has deleted it.

If you have Netview Access or some other terminal distributor or interface this
logmode may or may not be available to you. I only know that it works from a
VTAM logon screen.

Can't help with your Attachmate issue though, sorry.

Re: Emulator Screen Size with Attachmate Extra X-treme 9.3

2014-04-11 Thread Kreiter, Chuck
My last two companies have used Extra and I've never found a way to use
anything beyond the provided dimensions. I used PCOMM and Vista previously and
had a 60x162 screen (or 62x160...can't remember which) and that provided a lot
of screen real estate (though a bit small). Searching Extra docs didn't
provide much but from what I gathered, changing dimensions was not possible.

Betreff: Emulator Screen Size with Attachmate Extra X-treme 9.3

Is anyone aware of a means to configure Attachmate's Extra X-treme (v9.3)
emulator to display a screen size other than the base models (2,3,4,5)?
Checking the help and the Attachmate site I've not found any hints on this.
I was hoping there might be a config member that might allow tweaking beyond
what is offered on the base Display setup screen of the four base models.
Note: I'm aware of other emulators that are quite flexible is screen size
configuration and would LOVE to be able to install such however we are locked
into using what is given us and app installs are shut off.

Thanks
Bill

2014-04-11 Thread Linda
Hey George,

I have an old version myExtra! Enterprise at work. Under Settings, Display are
the usual mod 2 through mod 5 and an option Any Model. Try selecting Any Model.
Then logon on with the logmode (which must already be defined in ComServer). I
use the format of
LOG appl, logmode.

As always, YMMV.
HTH,

Hey Bill, we're sysprogs, there's surely a way?!!!
But as others stated already, if a proper logmode isn't available you're out

 security risk at all...

No custom screen sizes?! Doesn't sound very X-treme to me. ;)

Personally, I like to use 68x80 default screen size paired with 68x142
alternate screen size. If my emulator couldn't support that, surely I
would perish...
