I've been following the list closely for the past several months and don't recall seeing anything posted about v2.1 problems. Do any of you have it up and running? Did you run into major problems We had one significant problem with running VSAM in 64-bit mode. It affected us more than most because we are a vendor and some of our products broke under 2.1. The problem has been fixed so now it's a non-issue. We had a fair number of nit-picking problems, most like due to the increased content in 2.1. Most have been fixed. At this time I don't consider 2.1 to be any buggier than other releases. Steve, Will you be going to Share next month in Anaheim CA? That might be the perfect place to answer your questions. As you have noted, there have not been a lot of postings to IBMMAIN about z/OS V2.1. That might be due to not a lot of shops have implemented it yet. Our shop is considering going to z/OS V2.1 later this year. We have z/OS 2.1 (and CICS 5.1) running in 2 sandbox lpars since December. We have followed the same process for every release. We run in the sandbox lpars for an extended time period and then start rolling it out to our other lpars starting in March and finishing in early summer. Because of the number of changes in the release we are going to delay for a month and start our rollout this year in April. I compared the number of problems we have created with the sandbox testing for z/OS 2.1 and 1.13 and they are about the same number (about 10). Here are some that are related to z/os. (1) JES2 abend fix by ptf (2) ISPF ZSTART option fixed by apar from CA for PDSMAN and apar from IBM (3) ISPF Scroll amount greater than fixed by changing site wide defaults version level (4) Unix issues with OMVS segments fixed by security. This seems to me to be a problem that hit more tasks than I would have guessed.
