Stallman has made a few enemies by insisting on "GNU/Linux", but it

Did you try "chmod +x "? By default Linux system won't
preserve execution bit while copying to external media. So setting it
may help.

Its not a BIOS Firmware problem; the line - "[firmware bug] powernow
k-8:your Bios doesnt provide acpi_PS3 objects in a way linux
