Come on now - don't shoot the messenger! If Ipswitch uses poor encryption
and doesn't suggest how to protect the registry keys, I'm all for this info.
I would rather be informed than ignorant of an issue.

BIND can do this easily (I can only vouch for the Unix version).
Just do a line like:
* IN A A.B.C.D
and any request for hosts NOT explicitly listed will go to the wildcard IP.

Actually, VNC is by ATT research labs in the
UK.

We use
it extensively - however, a few caveats:
1. CPU
utilization goes through the roof on the host machine during a
session
2. Use
the java web client - seems faster to me
3.
Only good for IP
Hi,
I am nearing the 999 IPless vhost limit.
I understand I can edit the registry directly to add more (or use
adddomain.exe) but I won't be able to use IMail Administrator.
I can write scripts and/or ASP to do this, but has anyone had bad
experiences going over 1000?
Wondering if I should just
LOTS of growth room. I
always suggest keeping data and NT separate so you can do a format and
reinstall when necessary without worrying about data loss.

This
applies to new IPs on the SAME machine. It's really not that
bad.
I went
through this when I got my own IP block from ARIN. The best way to do this
is to simply add the new IPs to the server leaving the old ones intact.
PLEASE do a backup first. Then go into IMail Administrator - all
As an
afterthought, there is a little more to be done. Once you remove the old
IPs, you'll have to do some housekeeping in the registry. You can delete
the old IP sections and also be sure to update items like the gateway, etc. if
you are monitoring them. My changeover was total - I had to
Another nice thing about using the IMail database is that it gives you
machine independence. I have moved my IMail services between 4-5 servers at
various times and by NOT using the NT database it has been a snap.
For example, I moved IMail temporarily to a secondary web server so I
could
I
agree with Len - I use basic filters on my Ciscos and more secure rules on
FreeBSD boxes with two-three NICs. BTW - for max. throughput on some
firewalls/servers, I have been using the Netgear GA620 gigabit card (has drivers
for NT and FreeBSD). Awesome and only about $350.

Try doing:
nslookup -query=mx domain.com
and post the results.

They are bourne shell but may need slight mods for your environment.
For the importusers script you need to have all users in a text file with

For the importmail script, you need to zip up the

Whenever I get the error 5, I look in the IMU log for
the last username it tried - if I delete this user and run again it gets past
that point. I ended up deleting about 3 users to get through the whole
list, added them back in, and it still runs clean now. I guess something
got corrupt in
