Hi.
I just close the relay for mail.fis.com
Now that I did my homework... where I should
Why? Are you a spammer? Hopefully ORBS will be back soon and
mail-abuse.org will continue as they have. Very useful services and I
for one, hope that IMail 7.0 will finally add integrated support for the
ORBS and mail-abuse databases...

But, it seems to be happening more and more lately so we're forced to
investigate server issues also.

Most all are using our dial-up lines and we're not blocking any port 25
traffic. SMTP service is up and running. And, its just a handful (10-15)
of our users that are reporting problems.

Not sure what you're trying to say here. There's no problem resolving
the name (smtp.wcox.com). They can, when they are having the problem,
drop to a command prompt and ping/tracert without problem. But, they
cannot 'telnet smtp.wcox.com 25' - get a timeout with that also.
Chris Stone, MCSE
.
Agree, first thought was blocking for port 25, but that's not the case
here for local dial-in users.

Are they ALL running mail servers? You should ONLY have MX records for
systems that are handling mail for a domain and the MX record should
point to the systems running an SMTP server.

Never had problems till the end of last week and then they started all
of a sudden. Applied the patch, which installed fine, and no more
problems since with SMTP AUTH.

Your inetprofit.com is in the RSS database. This will likely get your
mail rejected all over the place. Go to the linked pages, and it'll tell
you what you need to do to get your domain and IP's out of the RSS
database.

Len,
What are you using to examine DNS and provide warnings like this?
Quite simple really...
With straight HTML (client side redirect):
html
head
meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="0;url=http://www.whatever.com:8383"
/head
body
/body
/html
or with ASP (server side redirect):
%@Language=VBScript%
%
Response.Redirect "http://www.whatever.
You can setup another web server (like IIS) running on port 80 and
create a single default page that that redirects the user immediately to
redirect to the same machine, but on port 8383.

I'm getting ready to do the same thing (switch to SQL 7.0) and am wondering
the same. Just checked the KB at IpSwitch and have not found anything
addressing this. Can you provide more information or possibly the KB article
number that contains this information? Thanks!

Anyone know of a utility like the adddomain.exe utility that supports more
than just IMail or NT databases? I need to have one that will support using
SQL Server (external IMail database) also. Any ideas or suggestions?
