Hi, all:
After a long while using IMail 5.x, I'm finally setting up v. 6.0 on a
brand new machine. During the first installation, I've messed up with the
"top dir" settings, and it became a little weird.
So I decided to uninstall, and start all over again. But now I can't get

Hi, all:
I've been using, until now, the security configuration "Refuse NULL
Senders". To be honest, I never knew exactly why. Anyway, I was contacted by
another ISP that tells me that, by doing so, I'm not complying to RFC-821,
since intentionally bounced e-mails are being refused.
If you use the console appliation, there is a 64K limit (limit
of Notepad!)on the size of the message file.
Notepad (Edit control) is not limited to 64k in Win32 anymore...

I'm still a little apprehensive about the mailing list functionality of
IMail. Are the any other horror stories to be aware of?
By now I don't think it's specific to lists, but anyway: one thing that
concerns me nowadays is IMail's tendency to take over my bandwidth. Down
here bandwidth is
After a while, the machine where IMail is installed shows, after the
netstat -n command, an enormous list of connections like this:

The xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP number of the machine, and is the same for

My guess would be that this is from the IMonitor program. It will check

and running. On the "Monitor" tab of the IMail Administrator, make sure
that the "Check every [ ] seconds" box isn't too low, and that the

Turn on diagnostic logging. The log will tell you more than just the event

How do you turn this diagnostic loggin on? I know that my case is like

I have it set to 600Mb.
Mine was way below the 3:1 ratio suggested. I'll try that, and if the
problem returns, I'll post again. As for Daniel's remarks, I have already
gone thorugh that, and it was not the problem.
BTW, I might add that this is the only problem I had with IMail so far.
Thanks, Eric, I'll try those! As for the registry key, is it really
MaxQueProc? Looks like a typo (I thought it would be MaxQueueProc or
something like it)...

The other day I thought IMail was taking too long to send e-mails to a
list. That was nothing compared to what it did to my link!
I have a client who has about 10 different lists, each holding some 50
users. Sometimes he sends one single e-mail for every list, so it must be
about 500
Today I noticed something strange: after sending several e-mails to a
list, IMail seemed to stop delivering other (regular) e-mails. Using the
IMail administrator, I can see that every e-mail is in the queue, as if
waiting to be serviced. There are several .SMD files, but all of them have
What version of IMail are you running?
Sorry, forgot to say that: I'm still running 4.08.

When receiving an oversized message for a user who has a limit on his
mailbox size, IMail will first receive the entire message, and then check
the limit. Too bad, because it could discard the message as soon as the
limit was reached. I have a user with a 1Mb mailbox, but someone insists in

He's not using security by IP. From an earlier post of his;
I realize that, but I took his statement as being the reason why he

I'm having a weird pb in this IIS ip-less setup. In the IIS3 manager, do
we set up the virtual web server's with an alias but not as a virtual

You don't! IIS3 doesn't have this capability (the Host header
parameter). You have to use another web server (eg. IIS4) in

Actually, you can do it even with a single IP! IMail allows for "virtual

Being a developer myself, I'm not a defender of the open source movement
that is going on. Actually, I haven't made up my mind on the subject yet.
I also have no idea about who is right or who is wrong in the hitstation

Does anyone know how to test if Imail is an open mail relay ?

Yes, but there's a problem: each message would be unique, and the list
