Dear Aarti:
All this effort was put in because of your long-term habit of wanting to
get a species level diagnosis even with one picture.
You have trained us well.. we dont give up until then...
even Surajit ( who usually does not get involved in these exercises) got us
information...

Its not g. victoriae

Yes It can't be G. victoriae in which leaves are unidivided
In fact there are three groups of Grevillea species
1. Those with simple leaves: G. victoriae, G. juniperina, G. lanigera
2. Leaves bipinnatifid as in G. robusta,
3. Leaves pinnatifid or pinnatisect as in G. banksii. To me
Gurcharanji
Yours must be the final word...but it may have the starting point but
further DEVELOPED both the leaves and flower spike are bit different
from the pictures from australian sites..
BUT I AM HAPPY WITH A FINAL WORD. *that Its a cultivar of G. banksii
'superb' *

nice to see because it was also the original tree in the far pacific where
sailors made therapeutic teas
made famous by Captain cook
I used to have one in balcony pot ...was trying to train it for bonsai.
but did not like living in the stuffy room when it snowed... .. and died..

*Thank You for best compliments, the drawings are made by me (self).*
*Thank you once again.*

yes nice drawings
seems all botanists or at least most botanists love to do their plant's
line drawings, so that the diagnostic features can be presented
ID of this is not correct, kindly suggest correct ID

well Usha di,
as far as i remember the pods you are talking about we call in
maharashtra Dingri. Am I correct Madhuri ji?
Mula or rettisch(german) has many forms. we get here long mula about 40
cm white, round, black and round, then we also get Radieschen, mostly
red, which are much smaller.
Great response Nalini
now that we have talked of this
if you'll keep it in mind and take pictures if you ever see them in germany
or that neck of the woods even supermarket or open air farmers market
it would be very interesting
to find that two different widely different cultures eat the pods
Gurcharan Ji,
