In going over my recordings from last Halloween's fantastic sunset skip, I
found a station on 1320 during the short break just prior to 2030 CDT giving an
ad for Dave Ransey's Living for Legacy coming to Seattle. I think I've heard
brief local ads from him during this time frame before. Does

Good Morning,
Listened from 1154-1245 utc. Asian stations this morning with the exception of
Tahiti on 738. VOA 1575 in for the first time
this summer. A lot of carriers this morning both TP + DU hets.
153 RUSSIA, Komosomolsk, Radio Rossii 1157 very signal with man in Russian
W-SW ewe.
This morning wa much like the last couple. Only audio this am was weak
from 738 Tahiti. Best carriers (and the only two really close to
audio) were presumed New Zealand on 1503 and 1008 (which for some reason
was stronger than the last couple of mornings). The upper band wasn't

Hello All,
Here on the Rockwork 4 ocean side cliff in Oregon I was finally able to get a
decent ID from a mystery Australian pop music station (at 1323 UTC this
morning). The ID was at good strength and clarity-- the only problem is that
the female announcer didn't seem to give the station
Hi Gary
I listened but couldn't make much of it except Radio 5-31 followed by
a word sounding like Ree-Al (like in El Camino Real)
I checked the websites for three of the listed Aussies. 2PM and 3GG both
show them carrying a talk show called Taking Back the Night until
local midnight
Um, I can't make out the first part of the (canned?) break as the soft
pop fades, but the last part to me sounds more like ... Radio Five
Thirty-One, Pee Eye.
The music that follows is pretty much sounds as if it's setting up for
an Island-type instrumental. Does your recording continue like
For many years I tried for 4KZ without any luck, until a typoon came
through some years back and distroyed part of the 4KZ tx site. They then
started to operate ND and 4KZ became fairly common along with 2PM. I
have never logged 3GG so far, but they have a null towards us.

I meant to get this report out sooner, but other activities kept

Wednesday and Thursday mornings were a bit different from Monday and

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for your very detailed report for the Yachats DXpedition.
Although I was only about 90 miles north of your location, the DU propagation
seemed much different here-- probably related to some tweaking by the ocean
side cliff that I've been using. There hasn't been a single
Hello All,
The Highway 101 road side ocean cliff finally managed some vibrant
Australian signals this morning as the typical Kiwi-slanted propagation let up
a little. 774-3LO, 828-3GI and 891-5AN had their best signals this week by far,
and less common Aussies were showing up on
Well, yeah, it's like some people here in Vancouver regard CJVB and CHMB
as Chinese stations: they're actually multi-lingual but with a
programming focus in Cantonese and Mandarin.

way off frequency. It's on 1450.3 kHz with its comedy format. KLZS was
creating a huge het for us day and night (Yachats is about 50 miles west
of Eugene).

Yes, after Mauno showed me how to calibrate the Perseus I measured 1450.307 the

Again a number of mostly quite weak audios. Often the DUs seem to
creep through if it is quiet enough, even if they don't have great
carrier strength.
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:

That explains what I was seeing on the Perseus on 1450.31 this morning.

So that is a het I noticed on 1450 the last few days. Someone should
contact their CE, if they have one. Thanks Bruce.

I went back and checked my Winradio files. Assuming KOMO is exactly on
1000, then Tonga measures on 1017.008.
I was also able to receive a weaker DU about 8 Hz below Tonga, but I
don't know what it is.
Good luck getting pursuing TPs from Michigan.
