Not much happening here in Victoria, Nick, although looking around I
do note good reception from KTKN 930 Ketchikan, AK and CBC Prince
Rupert on 860. On top of that 870 is WWL New Orleans on top of the
channel at 04:30 UTC until a hockey game took over for a bit. I
didn't see any TA activity,
I remember last year when I was in Kaui and later Honolulu that I
heard virtually nothing from Asia, and a fair number of stations
especially from Australia. All this would be around 05:00 to 06:00
local AM. Other years, Alaska was well heard during local evenings
(in Maui). Sorry to hear that
Having a quick listen this morning (no time for any details), but
quite good reception from the bottom to the top of the band of all the
usual first tier stations from Japan, especially. Wonder what others
have heard. 73,...Walt

Thanks, Nigel. Alberta is often very different (as is Arizona!)
compared to us here on the west coast/WA/OR. Maybe everyone else has
given up for the season? .Walt

I wouldn't go so far as to say it was good reception
Receiving weak audio on 1215, Nick at 04:49 UTC. Just above threshold on
the N corner fed loop. Weak carrier on 873, 855, 1089...73, Walt

Happy New Year to you, Colin! I'll be looking forward to those reports. I
remember how bad the noise was for you last year. Something I have found
depending on which hotel/condo you happen to be in. You can have terrible
noise, while the place down the street can be super quiet. I found a lot
Thanks fellas! I'm home in Victoria now (almost didn't make it, but that's
another story!). I'll review my files. My antennae were not optimum for
receiving eastern North Americamine are all oriented to Europe and

Tried out here in distant NW B.C. on Haida Gwaii. I taped the 30 minutes
and listened mostly half asleep live, and didn't hear anything for certain.
KXEL was definitely the dominant station, although I also had Seattle and
a CA station weakly as well. If anyone has exact times of various
Hi, Steve (and everyone at the IRCA)! My first time with email access
since the 22nd. I'm way up north at my DX cottage. I agree today fizzled
out badly. The lower half of the band was actually quite good, with the
NHK1 on 531 really coming in well, compared to usual. Above somewhere

Strange, Nigel. My experience was the opposite this morning, with the low
band quite good, and the high band, poor! ...Walt in Masset, BC

I listened for a while before the kids were up for Christmas breakfast and
gifts, Nick. I don't have my notes with me (in town), as I left them at
the cottage. As usual, things are usually hopping out here TP wise. I'll
have to report in later. 73,Walt

Hi, Nick! 1215 had a decent carrier (strongest I've had it in a few weeks)
earlier in the evening. Not sure exactly when, as I didn't record it, but
probably in the 02:00 to 04:00 time frame, but nothing developed, as you
said. I'm hoping for better things when I'm in Masset in 2 days.
