CBXQ 540 was my test for my NW EWEs and K9AY's. They were in 24/7 here. A few
years ago I found I can get the FMs from that area at times too. 200 miles a

I just found that out today from another DXer. So that is not the issue. Maybe
the radio is not that sensitive. I could always add a couple feet of wire to
the antenna and see if the gain goes up.

The older Dodge Caravans were good and sensitive, but this one seems to lack

I have the same QSL. At one time I logged and QSL'd all of the little SW
stations in Canada. The one in NFD I believe was the toughest as it was
co-channel with someone else. I am sorry to hear CKZU is going away.

If you could get a decent signal under JOWF, you might ID it. One thing in AK
you have no close stations on 1440. JOWF is at Supporo, so fairly close with 50
KW. The JJs when I was there, blocked a lot of channels in the mornings.

I read today that KMIA 1210 Auburn WA is dropping from 10 KW night to 220 watts
night. Down here on the Oregon Coast that should really free up the frequency
at night. I wonder when they will drop?

The only Russian LW (279), I got a direct e mail QSL card from the CE. He was
quite surprised how well 279 got out. The only other Russian LWer I got QSL'd
was 151 kHz back in the 60s with a Radio Moscow transmission in Russian. 279
was common here on the coast.

New Caledonia 729 was logged quite a few years back, but they never QSL'd even
after several f/ups. 666 QSL'd years before that though.

I was also told NW 980 was operating from a aux site at their studio's at lp.
Need to temp hook up my Eastern Beverage tomorrow. The tree is still uprooted,
but hooking up the Beverage is an easy job.
