Yikes-- I haven't heard anything this wild since the Kona, Hawaii DXpedition!
Thanks to Nick for his extremely detailed report describing the Chinese
onslaught during sunrise enhancement all over the band. My own focus was on the

I have poor audio on two frequencies that previously only produced hets, 738

Given the plethora of hets present, I presume Chinese stations are likely to
abound this morning in the Pacific NW.

Hi Craig,
Here on the west coast 738 is typically BEL1 (Taiwan Fisheries) in Penhu,
Taiwan. 963 is typically CRI's Russian service.
At 1330 here the TP-DX conditions seemed like a repeat of yesterday, with the
usual Koreans pounding in.

Craig,
I'm happy that TP's in Colorado sounded promising, but at the current time
(1430) it seems like they have gotten lost somewhere between here and the Rocky
Mountains. The low-band Koreans seem to be bailing, and only 1575-VOA seems
stronger than yesterday. By the way, 738 is usually BEL2

that's where conditions were good. Skipped past us for the most
part. However, AFN on 1575 did poke through briefly, and, at
1640UT, HLAZ is still occasionally fading up to readability (if you
know Russian). The upper band is

Sure slim pickings up here... just a very insignificant het on 621 noted
after I saw the post from Colin. And no improvement since, even on the now
working again Eu beverage and any other antenna...

Quite a few TA's audible in IL tonight. Mostly low/mid band. I put down a

No audio here, but quite a few carriers. The upper band ones seem to
have died over the past 30 minutes, but still some respectable low band
carriers, with 531, 612, 774, and 783 being the strongest.

Colin (and Neil),
1610-CHHA in Spanish can indeed have a powerful signal here on the west coast.
It was at a huge level here in December of 2016 (with a Toronto area code, in
Spanish) on a modest 5 inch FSL antenna

Good going Colin. They are heard here quite often as they do send a lot of
signal West. I even got a QSL from them. I have a tentative of Montreal, but
never could get the FF talker out of the mud well enough to report it.

Agreed on the near audio on 1566 just previous to
Parakou sunrise. That one is a surprise at this
time of year, mostly noted in the summer months,
and never with audio here before.
Had some traces of audio also on 621, but not
enough to parallel with any webstreams.

Quite a step downwards from yesterday's wild ride, and faded away fairly

Nigel, your 1575 is almost certainly AFN. Fits the format exactly! Walt
