I'm using MS Word 2000 as part of the Office 2000 package and have tried all
the beta versions on JAWS 9 Anyone having trouble opening a new or existing
Word document? At both home and work I'm consistently getting messages to
changed the default template and also getting 2 or 3 recovered blank
Hi,
I have the same problems.
additionally JAWS don't read Word spin-edit boxes. (for example table
menu/insert/table, change columns or rows count).

Something is going on with Word 2000 and we have reproduced it now in
our Test lab. We will be tasking a developer to work on this during the
week and hope to have some improvements coming. The Object Model in Word
has changed quite a bit since the Word 2000 release and it is a bit of a
challenge
That's good to hear, it just never crossed my mind that it was a jaws issue.
Never the less I just deleted the normal.dot file and launched word without
a glitch this time around.

Well it looks like I spoke too soon. Now word opens up seemingly fine but
after closing it and then launching the program again and repeating the
process issues still happen. Good luck to the developer. Thanks for
following along Eric.

Hi, I'm sure I've seen this message
Don,
Interesting. We did some testing and learned that if you go into Forms
Mode, while focused on a different edit field, and then tab into the
password field and type, you can then arrow and hear star star star. It
does fail to speak as you arrow in the password field if you entered
forms mode
Ok will do it that way while you all check it out as don't recall it ever
doing that before version 9.429 or any of the version 9 betas as could do a
say all insert 8 on the numpad and would say the stars.
Thanks.

hmmm, i also encountered a problem trying to
repair jfw 9 last night. had to remove the
software before i could install the 429 build
because it would install over the 399build for
some reason. i kept getting the message that a
previous version of the software was installed

I don't think JAWS 9 will have the newer version...Right now I just want to
get my hands on a copy, but I've heard it is just for hardware. I wouldn't
mind shelling out the money for a better Eloquence in the least.

From my experience JAWS9.0.429 beta seems ok (regarding opening and saving)
in Word 2002 (XP).

I am using Office 2007 with Jaws 9.0.429. Jaws loses focus when I am
searching in my documents for a file. Often, I end up opening the wrong
document because just as Jaws reads the document I wish to open, focus
shifts to a much earlier document on the alphabetized list. Anyone else
