Hi Wayne,
Hang in there buddy, because without your feedback they won't know how to
help the next person having these problems under the same circumstances.
You know there are a bunch of us here that will help if we can!
Take care.

Just keep a very close eye on your computer to make sure that Windows 10
does not get installed surreptitiously. It's bad enough that Microsoft in
general cannot be trusted, but based on your experience, even the agents who
man the special accessibility help line can't be trusted, either.

This morning when I started Windows Live Mail, version 16.4..., the menu bar
acted very strange indeed. When I pressed the alt key focus was on “new”

I don't know the answer to your question.

Hi,
The iTunes folder will be where you imported the music from. For example, I

Not sure what you mean "ftp" file. FTP generally stands for File Transfer
Protocol which is a method to move a file from one computer to another.
I use FTP regularly to transfer files from another computer while I am

Hello-
The publisher of my Spanish textbook has sent a ftp file to me with
instructions on how to open the file using File Explorer. I went to the
menus and to view and clicked on view file with file explorer but there is
no readable text. Can Jaws read these files or do I need another method?
The school sent me a link to the book and instructions to view it with file
explorer. I followed their instructions, used the user name and password
and clicked. All I have in front of me is a blanc screen and I have no idea
of what to do at this point.

FTP and Google Drive are 2 different methods of transferring/viewing files.
Maybe it's best if you tell your instructer to simply email the file
to you as an attachment.

Assuming everything you have done to this point is correct and the file is
in fact open in Adobe reader or a like minded program it is possible the
school has sent you a non-accessible file. Try using enhanced OCR and see
what turns out from it.

Wayne, I'm not sure of the exact procedures
needed for accessing your school work. I can only surmise here.
I'm sure if they're using Google Drive to deliver
school work to you the book or whatever info they
want you to review must be downloaded first from
a folder that your teacher created
My instructor insists on Google Drive because she gives assignments,
corrects and grades work and makes comments only in that way. Your info is
tremendous but it will take some time to get a handle on it. I am working
through it.
The FTP is how the publisher sent the book and I have to work
Thanks so much. I am in the process of learning how it works and it is
taking time.
The ftp file was sent as a link from the Disabilities Center after the
publisher, Yale University Press, sent it to them. The link takes me to a
website where I enter the user name and password they sent along
Wayne, you must crawl, before you can walk and then run. Taking on
too many different challenges at once is a 100 yard dash LOL. Conquer
one problem at a time.
Once you learn how to use Google Drive efficiently, all future issues
similar to this one will be much easier to conquer.

I hear you, Andy, which is why I think we need to bring issues like this to
their attention.
It ultimately may not do any good, but if you do nothing, than it is for
certain that nothing will happen.
In my view, awareness of problems is the first step in helping to
effectively solve them.
