I've had a problem scrolling through the message list using 2016 and JAWS
17. In fact, that in particular has caused me to stop using JAWS and return
to NVDA, as it seems they have more of a handle on things.
Just my two cents worth.

Hi Alana,
I do not know all of the technical reasons why but I believe you will have a
lot of difficulty using JAWS 14 with Office 2016.
I have Windows 7 and had difficulty using JAWS 15 with Office 2013 until FS
made some serious updates.
Now with JAWS 17 I have some issues with 2016 but they are
Hello,
Is it possible to still use JAWS 14, running windows 7 once I upgrade to
office home and business 2016? I currently have office 2010.
If so, what is the best way to back up my email in Outlook before I begin?
Thanks for your help.

It's been a little while, but I believe the prompts are rather self

With Outlook open, and possibly inside an open message, press insert-v (JAWS

Hi paul, I've not had this problem, but the problem that I'm having however,
is when I press enter on a message jaws starts reading the message so I have
to go all the way back up the page to start reading the message line by
line.
Any solution for this would be greatly appreciated.
Taron.
I'm also facing the same problem but not all the time.
I restart my outlook and it use to be fine.

Annette,
For the record, and because I think Mike and Mario had an interesting idea, I
said the opposite of what you indicate I did. I allowed that maybe Text
Analyzer could pick up wavy lines. I have no idea.
I find that Word 2010 detects everything that TA can. For example,

Mike, thanks for posting the info about Text Analyzer. I really need to
spend time learning how to use it. I guess it does not address spelling
errors.

I would definitely give Text analyzer a look. You are correct that it does
not look for squiggle lines, but the purpose of it is to detect errors and
inconsistencies in the text, so maybe it addresses spelling errors.
The other thing to look into is the track changes and proof reading features
Hi, Mike. For the record, I doubt very much that Text Analyzer, a Freedom
Scientific function, contains a spell-checker. However, as you and Mario seem
to suggest, maybe it detects wavy lines. Still, I'm guessing that the JAWS
quick settings option is a more direct way of getting at misspelled
Hi Ed,
Text Analyzer explained, From the JAWS help file:
When editing a document using speech only, inconsistencies such as unmatched
parentheses, unintentional format changes, extra whitespace, and stray or
unspaced punctuation can often be missed. Text Analyzer is a tool that

just a suggestion, I believe you can either use text analyzer, on the
fly, or play with the various settings of the many profiles to assist
in pointing out the misspelled words. I don't know how, but someone more
familiar would help you.

Anna,
Assuming the filename ends in .exe, just press enter on it. Be sure the file is
selected. That is, JAWS should say something like "gwx.exe selected." If it
says "unselected," press the spacebar to put it in focus. Then press enter. Be

A two-part answer. First, I believe you can instruct JAWS to tell you when Word
has detected a spelling error. Go into JAWS quick settings, type "spell"

options. I haven't used this setting for a long time and

Thanks again I will try to instal it after I down load it and save it to

My practice is always to download software and then run it locally. This
way you have the file in case you need to reinstall it for some reason.
