Hi Cher,
If you can't get startpage set as your search provider, try one of the
following work-arounds, they should yield the same results.
1. As Mike suggested, set startpage.com as your home page, that way when you
launch IE, it will come up, and you can do your web search from there.

Hi Jorge,
In the search provider dialogue, there is no edit field.
You may be referring to the one for changeing your homepage, which is not
what Cher was trying to accomplish.

Hi Mike,
Well, it doesn't solve the original question, but would be a comparable
solution.
Makes for a good work-around.
Thanks,

Yes, I get that far too- but then StartPage is not listed on the official

Hi Rick,
I'm wondering that since Startpage uses Google as its search provider, that
Google is actually the search engine / provider & you have to use Startpage
as your homepage only.
Take care.

Hi Cher,
After looking at the startpage site, I see that it didn't specifically
mention IE 11 on Windows 10.
However, I was able to add it on both my Win7 & Win10 systems but it was no

It seems like it was pot-luck, I will have to visit the site again to see if

Hi there,
Install Mozilla Firefox and then get the add on called Webvism for free.
Webvism will solve the visual capcha for you and copy it to your clipboard.
You just press ctrl V to paste it in the edit box and you are set. That way,

Oops though- I see that StartPage still does not show up under IE's
Tools/Manage Add-ons/Search Providers... So, I'm reverting to my former
conclusion that it cannot be added to IE11, only to Edge. It's enough to

I thought your problem might be in MSCONFIG,

Maybe take a look at it using windows 7.
Did you go into Jaws 16 and make sure it was set to startup?
