Re: [JAWS-Users] Accessibility of MS Outlook web app with JAWS

2016-10-14 Thread Shai
Hello,
Outlook web app in the web browser is mostly accessible. One item
thanks to an article I read which assisted me was to hide the reading
pane. You can read this article at
https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Use-Outlook-Web-App-email-with-a-screen-reader-d039e28a-3238-4214-bdb0-3a2533a7d7a2
be aware that at least in my experience after I hid the reading pane
and saved the setting, I had to sign out and sign back in to the
Office365 web interface for the setting to take affect. In this
article, it advises to turn off the JAWS virtual cursor insert z for
reading messages. I did not have to do this. Instead, when I got to
the conversation list box, I pressed enter to enable forms mode and
used my up and down arrows to find and press enter on the conversation
I wanted to read. The only trouble I had was needing to go into the
address book when composing email. JAWS states to use up and down
arrows to find a contact but I was unable to do this. You can also try
typing a contact name in the to field and it may or may not be found.
It seems at least in my case that it depends on whether this contact
has been emailed before.

regarding the orbit20 prototype recording, this recording is extra loud due
to the mic i used. in reality the sound is much quieter. there are also
other factors in play that make the recording louder than it is in reality.
keep this in mind when you listen to the recording. this is a very close-up
somewhat distorted recording. I have no idea what or how the final product
will sound.

I am or I havve tried to make a good recording. that is all. I have
created nothing but a recording of the orbit reader20 very low cost
braille display prototype by american printing house for the blind...
that i am testing out. this braille display is going to, I hope, really
really lower the cost of refreshable braille. so far I really like the
prototype testing unit. It works great! and I can't wait to buy the
final product once it is out. orbit20 will cost $499 for a brand new
unit everything included. I will test the prototype with jaws tomorrow
morning.

I am a bit concerned over the significant drop in list traffic over the past
several weeks. Granted Microsoft has blocked out this domain and earlier
this year road runner did the same thing. Also in the past com cast and
others have done the same.

It might be possible that the list has run its’ course. It is 11 years old
this week as a matter of fact which I find hard to believe myself.

Let’s see how things go for a while before any major decisions are made so
don’t anybody panic at this point. I am just expressing my concern about the
way things have dropped off so much. It had to happen sooner or later. The
fact is I have no idea how long the average email list stays in business, I
suppose that would be an interesting study.

Now to sit back and see what kind of response this message generates.

No difference, except price. When I was employed, my employer paid for JAWS

My understanding is the Home version can't be used in a business setting.
After I retired, I renewed my SMA at the lower price of the Home version
because I didn't plan on going back to work. I'm not clear on FS's control
on this distinction but that was the advice I was given when my renewal came
