Hello and welcome to the JAWS Users list!
This list has been created for The purpose of discussing all aspects of the
JAWS for Windows screen reader Program.
So everything that pertains to JAWS is fair game. Such as asking about what
software packages work well with JAWS or how to make them
Hi,
I followed Mike's recommendations to silence JAWS saying Blank. However,
in MS EXCEL, 2010, when I move to a blank cell, JAWS still calls out
Blank. Is there any way to silence this?
Many Thanks, With Kind Regards,

Hello list
I was using outlook express ok on windows 7 PC with JFW 16 beta and this
morning I got a message that an update is available. I started the download but
got a message that the patch could not be installed saying that there may be an
error in my installed JFW. Now the strange thing is
Hi Fanus and all members,
I forgot to mention this in my last message, but everyone should be aware,
Windows Mail and Outlook Express in Windows 7
are more than likely not supported by any version of Jaws
This is because neither of these e-mail clients are supported by Microsoft
in Windows 7 or
Hello Rick
Well, before the upgrade of the patch failed, everything was ok. I decided
to uninstall the jfw16.exe file and to reinstall it again and the problem is
solved, so it has to do that the upgrade patch failed to install.

Hi Rick
So I take it that the patch update did work for you? I wonder if it has
something to do with the avast virus software because somewhere in the
process avast gave a warning about mellicious files. If you perhaps use
avast, do you know how I deactivate it or should I just uninstall and
Hi Robin,
Windows Mail in Windows 7 is a registry edit, and Outlook Express, was not
engineered by Microsoft to workin Windows 7
and therefore may have unexpected side-effects , which FS would not have
anticipated in the development stage of Jaws.
This is a question best answered by a
Hi Fanus,
I do not use Avast, so I can't really comment on that part of your question,
only to say that if you disable it to install Jaws, make sure that you
disable your Internet connection first, and re-enable it before
re-connecting to the Internet after installation.
I would think that you
Agreed. FS needs to decide specifically what reports they need.
Thank you

Hi Rick
I get the error message before I get to the point of rebooting i.e. the
install says that it cannot install the patch and then there is only an OK
button which quits the download and install process.

I started dealing with similar issues four or five weeks ago. I submitted a
support request, but never heard anything back from the dev. Either via
email or through Twitter as I reached out via both methods.
I've found that sometimes if you just leave Nugget alone for a bit, things
will work, but
I wrote to my friend that uses this and he noted below, maybe a help to you?
I've never had those issues, and deleting the coordinates.db file in CN's
%appdata% folder straightened out the problem I was having.

Yes, I agree. I wish I could get a refund, and try Quartizer Project
again as they were responsive.

Hi Fanus,
I would go to Freedom Scientific's web site and download
the entire install, in that case.

Did you re-install the patch scripts for Outlook Express in your Jaws 16
beta?
I had to do that with the first release of Jaws 16. But, my update went
fine and I am using OE with my Win 7 machine as I am writing this. I just
ran the update from the Jaws update instead of downloading the

Hi
If the internet connection is disabled while AVAST is disabled, it will be
impossible to download and update the JAWS patch. You would need to have
downloaded the full updated version before disabling Avast and the internet
connection.

I inadvertently deleted several contacts in my Thunderbird address book.
However, I have Thunderbird on another computer with all the contacts
still in tack. Is there a file I can get from the PC containing the
address book with all the names and put it on the other computer? Thanks.

If the program is available officially for a supported version of
windows then report it.
FS wont make any changes to jaws 16 to improve access to outlook express
as it is not supported by MS.

There are many other programs not owned or developed by Microsoft that
run on Windows currently, several of which JAWS supports (or has
supported).
