This might sound like a dumb question but have you checked to be sure that
the mousepad has not been activated if it is a laptop? When I took my
laptop for repair it came back with the mousepad on and I could no longer
access the normal ways to turn it off. I had to take it back so they could
fix whatever setting controlled the

Windows Mobility Center which is how I turn the mousepad on and off.
The symptoms you describe sound like what happens to me when the mousepad is
turned on.

Just a thought.

I just had the computer in to the Geek Squad for exactly that. They were
supposed to clean it up. I'll take it back for another check but I wondered
if they may have done something in updating or cleaning that messed up JAWS.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Geek Squad and jumping JAWS

Hello-

I just took my computer to Geek Squad for a tune-up and cleanup. I have
done it several times in the past. This time I am running into several
problems. When I have different Word docs open or I am writing an email
using Outlook 2007 JAWS appears to jump to other Windows without warning.

For example, I was writing an email and the focus kept jumping to things
like the Desktop, time and date or battery check and I had to alt tab back
to my email multiple times and its happening as I write this. The same
thing happens when I am working in a MS Word doc. Any thoughts on how to
get back my JAWS stability? I have JAWS 14 and Windows 7

Also, I went on the web and to my bank. When I tried to log in the bank
gave me a notice that it did not recognize my computer and I had to go
through a security process to get the recognition back. I never had these
problems before with Geek Squad but I noticed that the people are new and
not as sharp as the old ones who suddenly disappeared.

Thanks in advance,

Wayne

If you have Open Book installed on your computer, you could print the page
to the Freedom Import Printer, and then save it as a word or Rich Text file.
This will make the text readable by JAWS.

I am using a site which will convert jpg files to Word document files. I
will provide the link to the webpage below. JAWS is not reading the browse

Does anyone know how I can make the conversion or get JAWS to read the text

I am using JAWS 14 and 15.

Re: [JAWS-Users] [Bulk] Re: CTRL keys do not work.

2015-03-24 Thread Reed Poynter
Hello,

In my case, I could make it happen by hitting the left shift+control key
shortcut.
It would change my keyboard type and, as I indicated in my note below, the
right control key would remain down. So, for example, if I hit the Tab key
with the right Alt key, I would get Alt+Control+Tab.

I've experienced the JAWS problem in the past and I actually did try your
solution of rapidly tapping the control key. It didn't help.
The problem went completely away after making adjustments in Regional and
Language settings.
I know we like to jump on it's a JAWS problem. But, in my case, it was not.

Actually this is likely an age-old JAWS problem that's been around since
version 3, 4, or 5. Occasionally a key gets stuck electronically (not
mechanically) and it adds to other key combinations and results in either
nothing happening or unexpected results. The age-old solution is to rapidly tap
each pair of keys several times each -- the pair of control keys, the pair of
alt keys, the pair of shift keys, and the pair of windows keys.
Usually this resolves the problem

It's never been fixed, so it will happen in JAWS 16 and any version of Windows.

The solution was to go into the control panel - Regional and language

Hi,
When you have the box up that you can choose open, save, or cancel is there
a way to change where it is being saved if you hit the save button. Right
now when you hit the save button it put it under the c drive under user. I
know a person can hit the save as but I would like to know if a person can
change where the save button put the file? I hope I am making sense.

after activating the download button, jaws announces do you want to run or
save this file depending on if jaws announces press alt+n you would press
the tab once for run, a second tab for save split button. here you would
down arrow once to save in default location, press down arrow a second time
for save as and you will get the instructions I wrote earlier. if he
doesn't I don't know what is going on!

Hi,
This friend of mine is having this problem. When he goes to download the
file off the net he says he does not get a choice to where he can save it.
I think there is a way to change it so that you can make it download the
file to where you want it saved.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Re: [JAWS-Users] How to change where downloads are saved?

2015-03-24 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

In Windows XP using Internet Explorer, when you see the run/save dialog, if
you change the location to another folder, IE will remember and use the new
location in the future. In Windows 7 and 8 using Internet Explorer, (I've
never seen Windows Vista), when you see the Run/Save dialog, tab to Options
and press enter to open. Here you can specify a new download location. You
can also get to the run/save dialog at any time while in IE by pressing
control+j.

Hi Colleen,

I use the hp Office Jet 4630 all in one. I am an Open Book user as well, and
the scanner on this printer works well with that program. I picked it up
from hp directly for $99, but I think it runs around $129 for the full
price. Great printer.

I am using a site which will convert jpg files to Word document files. I will
provide the link to the webpage below. JAWS is not reading the browse button,

Does anyone know how I can make the conversion or get JAWS to read the text on
the webpage?

I am using JAWS 14 and 15.

Here is the link to the webpage:
