Re: [JAWS-Users] Mac verses Jaws and Windows

2017-10-17 Thread J.Cyr
Thank You! Think those sound like more then I could handle, guess if I change
over I'll just dive in. From what I understand I can continue to run a version
of the programmes I am familiar with, Word and Email, ... guess that will have
to suffice.

You can either set up a dual boot system, or you can run Windows in a
virtual window using a program like VM Fusion.

The experience is totally different. Some concepts are similar, but you will
need to be prepared to put aside your knowledge of Windows and accept a
learning curve. You can put Windows on a Mac, and that way you can continue to
perform essential tasks while learning a new system.

The Plantronics headset I used had one plug for the phone and one for the

There is no field for the authorization code. There are 2 fields: locking
code which is filled in and serial number, they are both "read only". Tom

There is no field for the authorization code. There are 2 fields: locking
code which is filled in and serial number, they are both "read only". Tom

You go to the Help menu, there is an entry to authorize Jaws. You need the
20-digit code that is on your JAWS Cd.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Taking calls through the computer

Hello,

Does Jaws have the capability to take phone calls through the computer? If
so, is this easily done and would I need a specific headset or other
equipment to do this? .. I'm using Jaws 18 and Windows 10. Thank you in
advance for any help.

Laura

To delete an unwanted contact in WLM, press Control-numrow 3 to access your
contacts list and highlight the contact you want to delete. Then launch the
context menu and select delete contact.

Morning all.

I know how to get to the screen for creating a new contact in Windows Live
Mail. Can anyone tell me how to get to my list to delete unused contacts? I
am using JAWS 17 and Windows 10 on a Dell laptop. Thanks in advance.

Re: [JAWS-Users] question about large external hard drives

2017-10-17 Thread David Ferrin
Most certainly a dongle is the way to go if you can handle it. On a lap top
I suggest you avoid using those things as they might break off, but on a
tower it is the only way to fly.

Weird.

I think next time I'm going to get one of those dongles myself. It seems
like they do make things easier for us.

Hi

A couple of years ago, I got a CGate 3 TB drive for my Windows 7 machine.
It came with software from CGate to allow it to use all 3 TB in a single
partition. It worked fine until It recently failed But I had one problem
when I had that drive. Every week or two, my JAWS locking code would
change, requiring me to reauthorize JAWS, even though I made no hardware
changes. I never had that problem before or after I had that drive. I
circumvented the problem by purchasing a JAWS dongle to authorize JAWS.

Interesting, my research indicates that anything over 2 terabytes is not
addressed using NTFS, guess you can't believe everything you read on the
internet. Thank you, so I gather you are addressing every bit of your 4
terabytes.

David,

I have a couple internal 4Tb drives in my desktop tower, but have no idea
what GPT is. I formatted mine (or ensured that they are formatted) as NTFS.

I have been considering getting a 4 terabyte drive or even possibly larger
and I am already aware that if is an internal drive that goes in a case it
has to be formatted as GPT. Conversely I figure if it is already in its’ own
case that it is most likely already formatted.

I was just curious if there was anything else to make note or be aware of is
all.

You don't have to be crazy to run a list like this, but it does help.
