Hi Cesar,
I have now updated to the latest release of JAWS with no improvement.
How long have you had your Toshiba M645-4070? Did you find the touch sensitive
media keys above the keyboard to be a problem? I did, and was able to work
with Toshiba Technical support to turn them off. Now I
hello there;
I'm wondering if it's not a jaws problem, but instead a audio driver issue?
do you have the latest audio driver?
perhaps you may need to reinstall the audio driver?
unfortunately, you will need some sighted assistance, because, you would
definitely loose speech for a little bit of

Is there any program that might take over the volume? For example, do
you have skype installed on the machine? Skype is notorious for
chaning the system volume with its autogain function. This can be
turned off in the audio section of the skype options.

I had no problem installing the update, but I find the focus problem is much
worse with the new update. I am running XP SP3, 1gb ram and latest JAWS12 on
this desktop. The focus problem is particularly bad when using OE and when
setting on the desktop with no activity for a few minutes.

I am also seeing a focus problem with the latest update. I use Windows 7 on
a laptop and I find when a page loads, I often have to Alt Tab to get back
to the screen and have focus restored. It's as if there is nothing there
till I do that. If someone knows how to explain that better to FS, we

I am sorry if this question sounds stupid, but instead of worrying about
Adobe which I have not really had any success with for years, if I ever
receive anything important,

Hi Alan
Why bother with printing it at all?
Open OpenBook and open the pdf file there and OB will do what is needed to
read it to you!
Just like you get paper stuff through your post to read you just scan it,
having the computer copy of something just cuts out the scanning bit.
You can print
Yup did all that and still no luck! However, the document can be read out by
the built in screen reader that comes with Acrobat Reader, but I don't think
that allows me to fill in form fields.

Dear Larry ,
I did not know that!
I am just about as lame with Open Book as I am with JAWS!
LOL!
I best take this to the Open Book list then, but thank you for the great
tip!
Sounds great!

Someone has sent me something through Google Docs. I tried to open it and it
looks like it is maybe their document and my desktop all in one screen. Is
anybody using gdoc files with success and is there any documentation somewhere?
I had never even heard of it till today lol.

I bought my Toshiba M645 last December. I used the laptop keyboard setting
since I can both the capslock and the insert keys as my Jaws key.
Initially, the touch sensitive soft keys were also my problem but I learned
to avoid them.

Dear Alan,
I've never got pdf files to convert successfully using openbook 7.02,
even though one is supposed to be able to do it via the virtual printer,
as openbook hangs the pc and I ended up having to restart, as all
speech, including jaws was gone.
