[JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - Re: starting an AOP program without ANT

  | I think the docs on WIKI tell how to run an application at command line. You must
specify a system property jboss.aop.path that points to your XML files, or your XML
files must be embedded in the jars in your classpath via META-INF/jboss-aop.xml.
  |
  | if you have precompiled your classes and follow the above then it is:
  | java [-Djava.aop.path=myaop.xml] org.acme.MyMainClass

Thank you very much for your suggestions.

Bye,
Giordano

[JBoss-dev] [JBoss IDE] - Re: what ide was the Jboss developers using? Eclipse or JBui

2004-06-16 Thread debarcar
Dear Scott,

It is very surprise and happy for your reply :).

Using the JBoss plug-in for eclipse, I can run and debug JBoss in Eclipse now. But I
cannot yet build it in Eclipse.

I hope more guilds and I can do something to it. I think a desktop video record in exe
format is a good format for the guild. If I finish such a guild, where can I put it?

Thanks and best regards!

[JBoss-dev] [Caches on JBoss (Caches/JBoss)] - correction: GC concerns with big caches

2004-06-16 Thread first
Wouldn't GC slowdown the system with large caches?

As I understood cached objects are stored on heap.

Some use new NIO direct buffers to store all the objects there to prevent GC from
going crazy. Of cource it entitles expensive serialization/deserialization. But in
replication scenario it is inevitable anyway

thank you.

Most jboss developers use either Eclipse or IntelliJ. The guides talk about the basics
of obtaining the source, not how to use the source with a particular ide.

Dear Darranl,

Thanks!

Do you mean the default IDE for JBoss is Eclipse?
In the guild, how to run, debug and build the JBoss is not mentioned. Where can I get
these information?

Best regards!

As long as mib-polling is supported by external agent,
CPU, memory, storage, device... you name it.
e.g.,  host-resource-mib
http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2790.html
which is supported by net-snmp agent.

Do you mean I can check in code as external dependency?
Any document explain this?

This thread was about the snmp-adaptor, but I guess, you are talking about an NMS
framework...

Just to let you know there is a primitive trapd service in jboss, used mainly for
debugging the adapter.

So you mean we can poll an external (to the JVM) snmp agent running on the same box to
get the CPU/Memory info from the operating system?

The memory monitor is already implemented, but I think it may be interesting for the
cpu monitor..

You add thourgh an external dependency...

[JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - Global breadcrumb

2004-06-16 Thread KaMiKaTze
Hi!

I see breadcrumbs in several modules but there is no global one. Wouldn't it make
sense to have one?

With breadcrumb I mean the path for a user from the start page i.e. in Forums the line
JBoss -> Nukes on JBoss -> Nukes Development

[JBoss-dev] [TODO -- DEVELOPMENT] - Re: JBoss HeartWatch service/SNMP proxy

2004-06-16 Thread qiminghe

Regarding CPU/memory monitoring, they are not EJB-specific performance data and most
of these data are available through
SNMP interface. There are a couple of mature SNMP agents
providing such data via various MIB (e.g. net-snmp)

So we do not have to re-ivent the wheel. IMHO, the best way to do it
is to write a snmp proxy to "delegate-out" all such calls.
BTW, weblogic has such a thing.

I have a snmp proxy prototye built. Do you guys want me to check
in code?

[JBoss-dev] [JBoss IDE] - Re: Project divided in sub-projects

2004-06-16 Thread oz59
Greetings.

I'd suggest configuring a JBoss instance and then simply deploying your apps to that
configured instance. Deploying via the IDE is as simple as right-clicking and
selecting the "deploy to" option.

Post a response if that's not exactly what you're trying to do.

cheers.

[JBoss-dev] [Caches on JBoss (Caches/JBoss)] - Re: Is anyone using TreeCache in production?

2004-06-16 Thread idumali
We (www.digijava.org) are trying to use JbossCache under Hibernate on production. Only
ASYNC replication gave reasonable performance.

Number of caches objects that we are testing on is about hundred thousand objects

We are having real serious problems with the existing LRU implementation. LRU
parameter wakeUpIntervalSeconds set to anything higher than 5secs gives inaccaptable
performance.

We get nice results with wakeUpIntervalSeconds=1sec but I am not, really, very happy
with some process starting up every second.

Profiler shows that the bottleneck is put() in
edu.oswego.cs.dl.util.concurrent.BoundedLinkedQuee

"Something is rotten in the state of Denmark..."

[JBoss-dev] [JBoss IDE] - Re: Source not found for exception stack trace

2004-06-16 Thread jscalio
I forgot to include some of the required information:

- Operating system - Windows XP Professional
- Java version - JDK 1.4.2_03-b02
- Eclipse version - 3.0RC1
- JBoss-IDE version - 1.2.430
- JBoss version - 3.2.0

I am running JBoss via the launcher provided with the JBoss/IDE plugin. When I click
on an exception stack trace in the console view I am receiving a "Source not found"
information dialog.

I retraced my steps of installing the plugin, creating my project, configuring the
launcher, but I am still not able to figure out why this is not working. This was
working before I recently upgraded the JBoss/IDE to 1.2.430 and Eclipse from 3.0M8 to
3.0RC1.

In addition, I have searched the JBoss/IDE forum as well as read all of the associated
JBoss/IDE documentation and FAQs.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Does anyone know of an acceptable solution or work-around?

Any/all feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

[JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Bugs-973897 ] HTMLAdaptorServlet updateAttributes bug?

2004-06-16 Thread SourceForge.net
Bugs item #973897, was opened at 2004-06-16 19:42
Message generated for change (Comment added) made by raja05
You can respond by visiting:
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=376685&aid=973897&group_id=22866

Category: JBossMX
Group: v3.2
Status: Open
Resolution: None
Priority: 5
Submitted By: Rajagopal Venkataraman (raja05)
Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody)
Summary: HTMLAdaptorServlet updateAttributes bug?

Initial Comment:
UpdateAttributes method in HtmlAdaptorServlet has a
section of code something like
  while( paramNames.hasMoreElements() )
  {
 String param = (String) paramNames.nextElement();
 if( param.equals("name") ||
param.equals("action") )
continue;
 String value = request.getParameter(param);
 log.trace("name="+param+", value='"+value+"'");
 // Ignore null values, these are empty
write-only fields
 if( value == null || value.length() == 0 )
continue;
 attributes.put(param, value);
  }

The check for value == null || value.length() == 0 is
kind of wrong for my case.
Im trying to use a XMBean that would store the values
from the JMX-Console to a filestore that i have created
using Properties.load(not the
ObjectStreamPersistenceManager but something along the
line that uses the Property.save to store the data in a
name=value fashion).

The problem im getting is that if i want to clear out
any of the attributes that have been set already, the
above code comes to the check of value.length() == 0
and since its blank, just moves to the next request
param. I would like to remove this check from there so
that even though i blank out my value, i need that to
get persisted.

Please let me know if you need a detailed explanation
or if the above is not clear

I just need the value.length() == 0 check removed but
not sure if thats going to cause an issue somewhere else.

Thanks a bunch
Raja

Im attaching a patch for it. It works fine for me if i
remove the corresponding check of value.length() == 0

Please let me know if this could be a problem somewhere else!!

[JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - Re: starting an AOP program without ANT

2004-06-16 Thread Bill Burke
You mean do precompilation without ant? Or just run the application without ANT?

I think the docs on WIKI tell how to run an application at command line. You must
specify a system property jboss.aop.path that points to your XML files, or your XML
files must be embedded in the jars in your classpath via META-INF/jboss-aop.xml.

if you have precompiled your classes and follow the above then it is:
java [-Djava.aop.path=myaop.xml] org.acme.MyMainClass

[JBoss-dev] [JBoss IDE] - Basic question.

2004-06-16 Thread bhavesh
Hi,

I just downloaded and execute the ex given on tutorial. Everything is working fine but
I have one question,

When I checked my generated ejb-jar.xml file then it contains two lines,

 Stateless
 Container

Can you please explain me, what I write in my code so that "Stateless" is
automatically generated in my ejb-jar.xml file.

Also by which tag "Container" transaction is ejb-jar.xml file.

Thanks,
Bhavesh.

[JBoss-dev] [Nukes Development] - i18n dev setup

2004-06-16 Thread joehobson
I've never done any development with i18n, but always thought it interesting. I'd like
to play with creating a Nukes module with multiple language files. I'm using RedHat
8.0 / Eclipse 3M8 / Mozilla but i don't think i have anything more than English
available for this OS.

Any tips on how to setup my OS & browser to fake like i'm supposed to default to a
language other than English? I'm guessing i need to add the language to the OS and
then select it, and then the browser should transmit that pref in the response
headers.

... .joe
