This is what happens: I add a collection on a usb hd. Digikam scans for an
hour. I unmount the disk, and digikam removes the entry from the Albums view.

File management in digikam have been a problem for me for years and years.
Bugs does not get fixed, and it is not possible to drag folders if the
destination is not visible in the albums pane. There is no facility

I have uninstalled digikam, as I can not use it any longer. Filemanagement is
part of what I need to do with my photos, and digikam is not sufficient or

Another answer to this is that in earlier events where I lost files, there was
NO device issues. Just the very slow speed in combination with digikams poor

Well, in the old time digikam had a proper file dialog, iirc - now it doesn't.
And again, I don't care. I can't use it, as it is unreliable.
