I just updated the BIOS to the latest 7VCN46WW (Jan 2019).
Tried to boot without the `ivrs_ioapic[32]=00:14.0` kernel parameter, and the
stock 4.18.0-16-generic kernel just wouldn't boot at all.
Added the parameter back and it works.

SMART long offline test was successful.
Everything is fine.
I formatted the ext4 partition.
I assume the corruption came, because I turned of the external HDD hub too
early several times.
But this weird bug happened one time I unplugged the external HDD before
waking up my ThinkPad T460P.

I have had no issues anymore since I switched to my self built
1.177~ppa0f22c85 (PPA) - while before they were rather common.
Thanks for accepting that into Bionic-Proposed.
I have switched to 1.173.5 from Proposed and unplugged the cables.
The install (a downgrade for me as outlined) itself work
