pretty good on triaging backlight bugs that have a clear kernel cause
relationship, I'm stumped on this one. I'm marking back to Confirmed for
someone else to check into or I come back with a better idea.

back to Confirmed, as it would appear you are wedged in to a scenario where the
upstream kernel fixes your issue, but you are unable to properly test out if
this fix has landed in a newer release. It would be helpful
