the command
sudo ethtool -s eth0 speed 10 duplex full autoneg off
made it connect at 10Mbps speed, but the router is not the problem, as
other linuxes are connecting at 100Mbps speed.
Any clues?

After an upgrade in precise, the ethernet connection started failing.
My desktop is a Dell Inspiron 530s with e1000e 82562V-2 Ethernet

My laptop has two usb ports, one 2.0 and the other 3.0. The 3.0 works
correctly (as far as i can see). The usb 2.0 port does nothing. It seems
to have power (a mp3 player took charge, but a cellphone did not) but

Yes, this same machine. When bought it I installed 13.04 and since then
it has shown this behavior. I commented on that bug report, but since it

Short answer: it doesn't work under 12.04 either.
More deails:
Tested 12.04.0 from a thumbdrive. When the drive is in the usb3 port
Ubuntu boots, but the other port doesn't work just like under 14.04.
When I attempt to boot from the usb2 port it starts and displays the

I have the same issue. This is a brand new system and installation of
23.10 and the first thing i am doing is upgrading the headers so i can
install VMware. I am also using TPM-backed hardware encryption.

Thanks for enabling this patch in proposed. I have performed a verification
of the fix on Xenial HWE.
With 4.8.0-52 (current linux-generic-hwe-16.04) the error is consistently
reproduced, as can be seen in the following lines:

It can affect HP notebooks too.
My HP Pavilion 14n050BR BIOS cant save settings. Tried setting efivars
from efibootmgr, UEFI shell v1 and v2 without success. Also tried
updating BIOS, with no luck.
Happened after installing Opensuse Tumbleweed, some months ago.
But here its possible to install

Also, I can "workaround" it by moving the cursor to the bottom right, so it
will be hidden there.
But then on Pressing F11 (for fullscreen in Firefox / Youtube) the auto hidden

I have the same problem in Lubuntu 18.04 with same laptop Acer Aspire One.

I was able to install 5.12.4 using @tuxinvader ppa on 20.04 with current
libc6 2.31. Great work @tuxinvader!
I have used:
