[kicad-users] fit in page print error
Hi I would like to report a bug in the kicad 2007-11-29-c. If print fit in page is selected then the upper side of the printed area is out of the papper. The correction according to me, is that in line 661 in /share/wxprint.cpp the DrawOffset.y -= (int)( (PlotAreaSize.y/2) * scale); Regards, József Bús Please read the Kicad FAQ in the group files section before posting your question. [kicad-users] Re: design of spiral track or circle in copper with kicad

I'm working on boards where I need to treat some tracks as transmission lines and circuit performance would be degraded by reflections at sharp edges. --- In kicad-users@yahoogroups.com, Renie reniemarquet@ wrote: Hello Ambrosio! -- In kicad-users@yahoogroups.com, ambroise_1999 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi Who's anyone knows how build round or spiral track in copper with Kicad? Or changing drawing design (arc circle) in copper track? Thanks A trick? - set grid to very small. - in General Options unselec the check box tracks 45 only and segments 45 only. - construct your spiral with small steeps. []'s Renie I use Ubuntu 7.10, and I have installed the PCB Designer program from Synaptic. It is very easy to make a PCB spiral coil and also coils for planar cores. But it is a problem, if the core is not used with separate PCB's but is intended used on the main board and not just small PCB's for the ferrite core itself. It would be very nice, if we had an interface where a formula for the track geometry could be specified along with the track width, maybe as a component in the module editor. But even allowing arcs to be drawn on a copper layer would be a great help. Erik

Let us know if this makes a difference. At or near the new year we made a change that causes some of these actions to trigger on mouse release rather than mouse down. I think block select is the exception, and this may be the explanation. I just tested with svn2008jan28 version on Linux, I believe that now it is much better. Thanks, Alain My work around with wire placement is to use the keystroke 'W' to start a wire, this works fine. Where are these shortcut keys documented? I had a quick look at Pcbnew and the same problem occurs with track placement. Can we have a Windows version of svn2008jan28 please if this improves things!
[kicad-users] Comparing gerber files for changes
Hi, I have two sets of gerber files that I THINK are identical. Any ideas how to be sure? I can load multiple gerbers into the viewer, but if I load layer1 from one set and layer 1 from the other, they both seem to be loaded the same colour, so it is impossible to tell if there is a difference. Any ideas? Cheers, Ben

Try: edit the backup/trashable copies of your two Gerber fileS with your favourite editor. Sort the files. Compare. The files can't be used for plotting anumore but now you can compare drill holes, Open aperture and where Close aperture and where Etc etc //Dan

You can use the PentaLogix ViewMate viewer (a free download) to import each of the Gerber files into a different layer. Doing this will display them in contrasting colors. Regards, Bob
Re: [kicad-users] Re: Placing a wire
Hi, glinelec napsal(a): Can we have a Windows version of svn2008jan28 please if this improves things! I'll try to compile svn-snapshot. I've had problems recently with compiling under Windows. Milan
[kicad-users] DRC err codes
Are the DRC error codes listed anywhere? I've looked through the documentation and googled with no luck. I'm working on a schematic in Pcbnew and can't get a few of the tracks to work. I used the DRC override and sometimes I still can't put down a track... In some case they show up in red and will not print. There are no obvious clearance problems. In one case the one of the components is a SD memory card and the pads are in mm and not centered evenly, the others are pretty normal components. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I'm trying to use a .mod file of footprints translated from eagle. I've copied it to the modules directory but it does not show up in pcbnew. What are the .mdc files for? Dean
[kicad-users] Spirals and Curves
As an RF microwave circuit designer, I frequently need to make transmission-line components. My current workaround in Kicad is to make curves and spirals as components in the module editor, but that can be rather time-consuming. The experimental microwave component layout facility in PCBNEW is very useful, and it would be good to see a few other microstrip/stripline components in that section. I'd offer to contribute, but my congenital (in)ability to write code has been known to reduce software engineers to tears... Best wishes Chris
Re: [kicad-users] Re: Is there a separate Lib Viewer/browser available ?
Hi, try this: Open CvPcb and then click in the fourth icon (Show selected element, or in spanish mostrar elemento seleccionado), this open a new window in wich the selected module is shown. Goog luck.
[kicad-users] Re: Comparing gerber files for changes
Download Viewmate(free). Use the Import Gerber selection and you can set each layer to a different color. Dave - WB6DHW http://wb6dhw.com Thanks - In fact, I downloaded Viewmate, but then set all the layers to the same colour and told the program to XOR the layers. This was perfect, as everything vanished but the differences :-) Cheers, Ben
