A lot has been said about gas strut mounting, and I'm sure it's mostly true, at least for the struts described. I mounted my "Life-o-mat" struts "upside down" for some reason that was way too along ago to remember, and I must say they are as smooth as I could ever hope for, and I've had zero

I found two low pressure gas struts on a pickup truck fiberglass canopy rear hatch lid. They work perfect and only cost me $5.00 (U.S.) plus the ball joints ($5.00) from the local auto parts store. Mike Stafford,s KR2 is 85% and almost making real airplane noises.

Another thing to look at is a hatch holder from a boat place. It is basically a spring rather than strut. Bend the spring and the canopy comes down. Paul Derry, NH

After trying several struts from AutoZone, wrong length, wrong pressure, I spotted the struts on my pickup truck topper setting in the drive. They are use to lift / hold the back glass door. Result: perfect length and perfect pressure. http://mysite.verizon.net/flesner/13.jpg

Hi Guys, I'm after some help with gas struts. I want to use gas struts for the canopy, I have 2 but the pressure is too high. Apparenty you can increase the pressure but most struts you cannot reduce the pressure. With the struts that you can reduce the presure there is a valve in one end but
