Good to see that DMC are reviving an old idea.
I have some (very) old skeins of linen floss that I bought years ago from
someone who was having a turnout. They are labelled Knox's Linen Floss -
size 3. And yes, I have used them for lace, usually as gimps with a more
conventional linen thread.
Reading about DMC's new linen thread reminds me that they seem to have given
up supplying Danish Flower Thread. Does anyone know of another stockist?
It seems to be almost unobtainable in the UK now.

Hi to all fellow spiders,
Ref pricking card discussion when I first started to make lace we were
told that if you could not afford (or get hold of) proper pricking card, to

I'm afraid they discontinued flower thread several years ago. In the UK

Dear Bridget,
This may not be of a help to you as I'm in the US, but the shop I work
in one day a week (The World in Stitches) has Danish Flower Thread in a
limited palate and a limited quantity. Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] to
find what colors and how much we have.
I was a very pleased customer

Hello Shirley
It is a pitty you are just a week too early. 16-20 March Breda has a Textile
festival, including a lace workshop with Ulrike Löhr! Consider a trip to
Brugge, might be one or two hours by train.
Brussels is even closer:

It is my understanding that the original Danish Flower Thread was produced
by the Danish Handcraft Guild. They didn't copyright the name Danish Flower
Thread, and so other companies (DMC) started producing a similar product by
the same name. The original thread is still available, in many colors.

Hi Sue
Glad to hear that your arm is now better and you are back to your
lacemaking. Like you I'm looking forward to the lace day in Norwich on
Saturday, I shall be taking along the old bobbins that I was recently given
for Carol Morris to have a look at, her comments will be of great interest.
If you use plastic film to cover your prickings try to get hold of the non
reflective kind its easier on the eye when you are looking at it for long
periods.
If you can't get the non-reflective type just rub the other one over with a
metal scouring pad, it dull it sufficiently.
