I am usually a lurker here. I enjoy reading everyones posts. So please
forgive me.
For now I have a big question about computer aided lace drafting
programs. I found 3 programs. After reading past posts and many personal
web sites it had looked like Lace 2000 would be absolutely wonderful. I
I think Candace intended for this to go to the entire list...

Hi All,
When I started making lace - far too many years ago! - I was shown both the
'on the pillow' method and the 'in hand' method of leaves. I went for the
former - mainly because the tutor also told me that, when the leaves are
done 'in hand' it is more difficult to keep to a symmetrical
Sue, some fabulous lace on there. I have been taking a look but my machine
wouldn't let me see the wedding bearers pillow:-) Still I better get moving
I have lots to do.

There are some more photos of 's Gravenmoer on my pages 1 2 of the

I only missed a little bit of the discussion between Hilary Kaye (Expert)
and Pat Perryman (Owner). In view of who the owner was, I think the
transcript should read Presenter and Expert.

Dear Arachnes,
A friend of mine is travelling to Sydsney Australia from the 15rh of
July for about 3 weeks. She asked me to investigate if she could
visit any lacy places or lace exhibits.
Could you inform me about it, so that I can tell her?
Happy lacing

So, dear Clay, please tell all of us--How do you make a leaf and how do you
make a tally?

Having JUST taken a class with Christine Springett with the specific goal
to learn to make a respectable leaf, (mission accomplished!), I can report

I agree Diane, I also had Suzanne for a teacher in Australia and she is very
good and like you I really enjoy working the lace but the diagonal half
stitch certainly has attitude until you master it.

Hello Gom,
The Powerhouse Museum in Sydney has a large lace collection. It is open
to the public 10:30 - 13:30 Monday to Friday and is 'manned' by
volunteers from the Lace Guild.
The New South Wales branch of the Australian Lace Guild has its annual
general meeting on the 6th August at Linwood
Theresa, I'll grant you that the ILSoft website needs some attention, but I
don't agree that the information is bogus.
There was a huge upheaval at ILSoft last year...which has left the
owner/programmer of Lace 2000 trying to do everything in his company by
himself - and he is not a lacemaker.
I am thinking of trying my hand at Tambour lace.
I believe there are 2 books available - one by Fukuyama, and the other the
Liers lace by Greet Rome-Verbeylen.
I am told Liers Lace and Tambour lace are the same thing.
Please can anyone give me book reviews, and/or advice on which would be the

Today I decided to do a little dusting in my bedroom using the vacuum cleaner
