I think they’re mainly Spanish, but there’s some Russian and eastern European
work, too, Some of it’s really wonderful.

A few days ago you asked about Spanish lace makers and what they were doing.
There had been a large group on google with many Spanish lace makers
participating. A huge number of photos were posted. Unfortunately google
decided to cancel their "groups" feature, I think because facebook was

Hello Fellow Arachneans
Just asking are there any areas in the north of Spain (Barcelona
to the border) which are worth visiting for lace? I'm going (with the

There were 36 entries. As they came in I put them in a separate

What is that woman doing at 5 mins 25 sec into the video. It seems to me
that she was about to hang in a new pair and is smoothing the thread, or
covering it with something.
Hello David,
She is winding a bobbin. Here we use this system of winding, with the help
of the thread we are using,
Brilliant - well worth a watch.

My impression of the whole video was that it all was
speeded up from normal speed --on fast forward, so to
speak. Every action, even walking, was faster than
normal.
Hello all,

Hello all spiders,
TAM (Arenys de Munt Television), has uploaded a lace video on You Tube
that though it has not a great sound and image quality, it is worth
watching it, by its great value as docu soap document filmed in the year
1958.
It can be seen how at that time, lacemaking was yet a
I cheated and watched this at work since I don't have a high speed connection
at home. One of the things that truely amazes me, is that while the lace maker
is getting ready to set a pin with one hand, the other hand is still
manipulating bobbins!
Thank you Carolina for sharing!

I think she was winding the bobbins. I seem to remember reading
somewhere about that method of winding them. I tried it but decided to
stick with my trusty bobbin winder.
