There are 2 differences between Tenerife and nanduti lace.
1. Nanduti creates little odd shaped bits to fit between the main motifs.
Diamonds with curved sites, triangles, scallops along the outer perimeter.
Look here for tenerife:

Last week I asked about a tape lace.
Well, someone informed me that it was Dichtl lace or Dickel lace.
I could find an old pattern but no literature.
I have another request.
Does anyone knows exactly the main difference between Tenerife lace
and Nanduti?
There is a lot written about these laces
I Googled Kingston Bagpuize and found that ii is K. B with Soutworth, a
village around 6 miles west of Abingdon in Oxfordshire, formerly Berkshire.
Longworth is about 1 mile north of B.P. There is a great deal of information
about the village on more than one site but I haven't read them through.

I should have clicked on the next email before answering. This one does have
better detail. It definitely looks like metallic lace, not yak. But the date
I would give it holds at early 20th century.

The photo does not have sufficient closeup detail. It needs to be twice as
large. However, from everything I've read yak lace was made with wool, and
this piece is definitely not wool -- no fuzziness. It may actually be a
metallic lace, but insufficient detail does not help with certaint
Sorry for the (almost) double post. I thought I'd include a bigger picture. :-)
Here is a better/bigger picture.

Hello dear all.
I have a lace with an original label. Would anyone has some
information about the type of lace and the period?
I read that in Kingston Bagpuize & Longsworth the yak lacemaking
industry was successful around 1908.
Opinions are welcome!!

Hello Anne
I'm south of the Thames, but a long way from Reigate, about 50 miles!
I would think that Reigate is on the edge of the North Downs Lacemakers
catchment area, so have a look at

A while ago the husband a lady on the list from the north of England (I
think) repaired an old bone bobbin for me, replacing the head and neck - and
did a beautiful job. I wonder if said husband would like another small job
;o)
I have one bone and 14 wood old bobbins that I would like drilling
Just a note to say that I wrote to Jenny privately with suggestions. It's
brave of her to put her work up for comment. She's learning fast.
Best wishes,

Hi folks
I have been scanning my lace as I go and have come to a conclusion!
Scanning it allows me to zoom right in and really SEE what I have done wrong.
Then of course I have to go and find out WHAT I did to make that happen
Which is what brings me to the next part of my email. I need your help
I am a member of IOLI and the Golden Bobbins chapter of the North Carolina
Regional Lacers, and I am writing a masters thesis on American lace making.
I plan to write a short book on the history of lace making in America, with
chapters on bobbin lace, needle lace, crochet, knitting, and tatting
Dear Lacers,
May I prevail upon those of you in the tatting circles for some help? I have
been contacted with a request for a tatting teacher in the Houston, TX area.
(The only tatting teacher in our local group has a four day old baby and is
out of circulation for a bit!)
